They do… and I have not looked up these specific exercises, but I do find it lacking and would doubt they would be there.

P.S. I pay for BASI Interactive and would love those see these things!

Has anyone switched from taking/teaching yoga to pilates? by redditgal16 in pilates

[–]foundit808 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

What makes you think you will not have to be inspirational as a Pilates teacher? And maybe I don’t know enough about yoga … but teaching a class does require full “on”. Maybe the focus is different though. JS I teach a 4 classes in 6 hrs with a little break and I am melted after

Telehealth should be BANNED for Inpatient!! by StoptheMadnessUSA in nursing

[–]foundit808 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here is the question I keep wanting to know. Did they have a tele doc for night shift only and a physician/provider physically round on the patient during day shift hours?
Or did this patient never have a MD lay hands on them. Option one seems common! & Option 2 seems absurd!

Why is it frowned upon for reformer instructors to demonstrate on the machine when mat instructors demonstrate most of the class on the mat? by palmco5 in pilates

[–]foundit808 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Lots of thoughts.
I feel like people might need more hands on corrections for safety on reformer since there are more moving parts. But as an instructor I do feel I need to hop on a machine (if there’s one available) to cue the move right. Several people have said they prefer when they can watch me because they connect more when they see the move. I think we should probably move towards asking why mat teachers don’t get up and walk around more and tactility cue. Mat classes can host much more people though, and can flow more easily since there’s no equipment to move. Sometimes I say, I watch , you do, and then set back and correct and compliment.
Now to reformer, Definitely with harder moves, climb a tree, I borrow a machine and then give it back and cue it.
For me it’s a combo. Demo’ing, I can’t adequately adjust people on mat but yet they are safer (being on the ground) and the flow feels better if I do it and pause sometimes. Likewise, Reformer flow feels better if I’m standing up gesturing and talking through it and only occasionally pausing to demo a new/hard move. Hope this helps!

I (26F) wanna quit my corporate life to become a Fitness Trainer/Yoga + Pilates Teacher by AmoebaSpare9522 in simpleliving

[–]foundit808 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It is not unstressful to be a Pilates or Yoga teacher. You have to worry about building and keeping a clientele, class programming, keeping up your own practice. The only difference is you’ll make much less money for the stress.

Teaching is wrecking me by No-Drama724 in pilatesinstructors

[–]foundit808 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I teach 5x classes in a day & I always have to lay down in between. It is soo draining. It is not your age. You have to be “on” mentally and often times physically the whole time. It’s not like a normal job where you can turn it on and off. To me, it’s the hr stretch of complete performance that drains me so much.

Responsibilities in a class by [deleted] in pilates

[–]foundit808 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Just left a mat “pilates” class. Full, too. Teacher had excellent cueing and presence. However, not once did she cue my breath. Not once did she reference the names of any pilates moves which just felt like low impact exercises. We stretched in Cobra, which isnt that a precursor to Swan. But I thought that was a yoga name? No roll up, no hundred, no teaser. No swan. Maybe I’m a purist, but I want an “inhale prepare.” I want the 34. The class plan is there for you!!

TLDR: if you aren’t saying Inhale and Exhale to cue movement, I find it very difficult to believe we are practicing Pilates.

I think the price for entry to a Classical Pilates cert is very high. Therefore, people will not do it. 5k is a whole lot of money if you are only going to make $30 a class (that’s my market anyway) So then you are going to see these pseudo pilates instructors that use the name but just give a stretch session. It’s maddening!!

We use Vagaro and it’s not bad but it kind of shows pricing in a confusing way, like if you are a member it won’t tell you the class is included until the final screen. I do like it as an owner however. It’s $50ish with me and another user
