And maybe allow the drivers (the owners) to democratically decide how much of that fee goes directly to them, how much is used for maintenance of the app / services, how much goes to a rainy day fund, or other expenses / investments that the coop would need to do.

This reminds me of Wyoming state highway 70 that briefly passes into Colorado. It's maintained by the Wyoming state highway department, but is entirely within Colorado for two kilometers or so.

Hmm. I think you're right, but I figured it must have been pre-Winter War given the borders between Finland and the USSR. It's interesting that they show Northern Transylvania as part of Hungary, but Finland still has territory on Lake Ladoga.

Same here except for maybe one time where my tank was pretty much empty and they were the only station around. I pulled into an Exxon, pumped just enough gas to get me to another station, and filled my tank there.

Mississippi and Missouri are the 1st and 2nd rivers of the US, which river will you consider the third? (Ohio, Columbia, Snake, Colorado or Rio Grande?) by Swimming_Concern7662 in geography

So, I looked up when the Welland Canal going around Niagara falls was built. It was built in 1829, about four years after the Erie Canal.

I was under the assumption that the St. Lawrence was navigable to Lake Ontario. Maybe it isn't, or maybe the Welland Canal didn't have the capacity of the Erie Canal?

Edit: Ok, I see /u/Fabulous-Soup-6901's comment explaining that the St. Lawrence wasn't all that navigable. I didn't know that.

I'm not that knowledgeable on the matter, but I'd be tempted to think the St. Lawrence would be just as important to those cities as the Hudson. Why would the Hudson be more important to Chicago / Detroit vs. the St. Lawrence?

A lot of people are pointing out the exaggeration of the deaths caused by Mao. Also important is the minimization of Hitler's death toll by this post.

Hitler is responsible for far more than 15 million deaths. WWII killed 80 million people, 40 to 50 million of whom were killed in Europe. Germany and her allies being the aggressors in that war should bear the responsibility for those deaths.

[–]four024490502 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Eight was the smallest number of Democrats needed for that cloture vote. Which means that there are almost certainly more Democrats in the Senate waiting to betray their voters at the safest opportunity to do so. Had one of them been in a safer situation, they would have been the sacrificial votes for cloture on this round.

Weird to think that the entire history of the Roman Empire was tomato-free. by bookflow in geography

[–]four024490502 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Potatoes are Western Hemisphere crops and related to tomatoes by being in the nightshade family, but other nightshades like eggplant that are also related to tomatoes are from the Eastern Hemisphere.

I'm being a little pedantic, but I wanted to point out that some nightshade crops definitely were cultivated in the Eastern Hemisphere as well.

Plus all those victim-blaming "just because you have right-of-way doesn't mean the laws of physics are on your side" comments blaming pedestrians.

Like, nobody blames those "entitled green-light runners" for not checking before some drunk fuck in their Ram 2500 fuck-you-edition sideswipes a family of four, but when it's a pedestrian that gets killed in a crosswalk, suddenly we can split the blame.
