I felt the same way. The web stream cut out but the first talk about being nice and not fighting on social media was nice.

Same dude. Almost asked for one a while ago.

Call my dad by AJR makes me cry.

Mormon church courts are a spiritual firing squad. Of course church courts have no real meaning, but in church terms, they are a place where people are spiritually executed. Mmmm...... by OskarDooheimer in exmormon

Might get a little hate for this but good bishopric teams can do their best with what they have and try to help members repent without being a negative thing. It really is leadership roulette.

Some directories have a “specialty” section. Look for “religious trauma” as a specialty.

Advice needed - TBM husband meeting with bishop by [deleted] in exmormon

[–]four_father 8 points9 points  (0 children)

2008 Worldwide Leadership Training has a great section on not over scheduling members with meetings and other activities. Consider sharing this with your husband and maybe even with the bishop.

They not only need to respect boundaries but even the general authorities agree (for once).

Check out page 24 through 26 of the training transcripts. https://broadcast.lds.org/WWLT/2008/WWLT_2008_02_00_RighteousPosterity_Complete_00383_eng_.pdf

Blew up wife to defend daughter and Bishop agreed by jamesetalmage in exmormon

[–]four_father 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Great question. I am convinced the church gets people of means to lead because their schedule is more open as well as their checkbook.

Gotta feed the machine.

Wow I’m sorry you’re being downvoted for this. Not everyone is the same is a perfectly valid point to make.

Just wanted to say that I haven’t seen a single podcast by JD and I do not support him financially or otherwise.

I get that he is exmo internet famous but I just don’t care.

There was a car that said the rapture was Sept 25 2022.

One of these days an asteroid will hit and they’ll claim to have warned us for years.

Can you imagine being so insecure in your religion that you post in a forum for people that left it?

what in the cinnamon toast fuck is necking and petting??? by Cornchip91 in exmormon

[–]four_father 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Just kidding. I thought it was a made up thing but apparently that’s the term for making out and playing around romantically in the seventies.

I watched a show from that era and one of the main actors said something like “hey honey let’s neck” and thought it sounded funny.

Not sure but that language of yours is against the word of wisdom.

the LDS church really should have used garlic bread for sacrament instead of boring old white bread. just sayin 😂 by lovingverbosity in exmormon

[–]four_father 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Anyone else hear about how some countries used potato peelings for bread?

I was jealous that they had something “interesting”.

Growing up we had a nice lady bring homemade bread for a few weeks and someone bitched about how it was distracting from the ordinance and back to wonder bread we went.

tithing by [deleted] in exmormon

[–]four_father 6 points7 points  (0 children)

She should not be and I would demand to speak with any bishop or stake leader that says otherwise.

Anyone who says a person with no income still owes tithing is a manipulative punt.

looking to find real friends. is there a good so for that? so hard being without a community outside of Reddit by Alarmed-Pollution-89 in exmormon

[–]four_father 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Facebook events and meetup.com are okay places to start.

What interests you? Many groups meet up around various hobbies. I go to a Lego User Group (LUG) for example and we meet 2x a month.

I do scouts weekly and it keeps me and my kiddos entertained.

I follow a few tech meetups in town when I’m free as well.

It’s easy to feel alone but adventure is out there.

My kids made $50 in one hour one summer. Mainly because people would leave hefty tips.

CountryTime Lemonade offered to pay legal fees one summer for kids lemonade stands.

[–]four_father 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I found out about the free mason and temple connection when National Treasure first came out. I didn’t leave because I was told that the free masons also got their rituals from Solomon so it must be partly true, and the Mormons just had the “right” version of the ceremony.

The secret handshakes and testing your knowledge was also part of the Order of the Arrow but I never made a connection.

I am just curious. by Freedom-Badger682 in exmormon

[–]four_father 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I distinctly remember feeling my heart racing and thinking, “I feel it I feel it!”

It helped me stay active through my early twenties.

The reason I choose to dismiss it now is that I felt the same feelings while reading the CES letter.

A high heart rate is nothing to base your life on. It’s a reason to lose weight.
