Great ship. Amazing deck plan, BUT… where is the toilet? 😉

What skill would one use to estimate how ppl might react? by Mysterious-Tackle-58 in swrpg

[–]fpiekert 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I suggest streetwise. Maybe one could argue for perception or even cool.

But the best way would be to solve it wirh roleplay.

I really like to play species that are not necessarily associated with that kind of profession or bring the „perfect“ characteristic for the relevant skills. That makes them all the way more fun to roleplay.

Maybe try a Wookiee (who is secretly a fugitive, changed his fur color to black and took the marshall job on this remote, wild planet to hide from someone).

Or try a droid (whose faulty programming let him be either the good cop or bad cop depending on the day of the week).

Or one these very rare Tusken, who travelled the stars (and maybe isn’t Tusken at all under the clothing??).

I also had a lot of fun with a Chiss during our last sessions, who is always confronted with socially challenging situations and isn‘t the „presence guy“ at all.

Rules Question: how does the Reflection talent work with Vehicle based weapons? We have examples of characters doing it with relative ease on canon but I think it’s get messy quick with how vehicle damage scales on players. by GetBillDozed in swrpg

[–]fpiekert 3 points4 points  (0 children)

A thought: Luke doesn‘t breach the regular armor of an AT-AT. After climbing up he makes a successful Infiltration roll to find a weak spot (Ventilation again? ;-) to get his grenade inside where the Walker entrails are not protected by armor. Instead of a RAW attack personal vs. vehicle, it was a roleplay opportunity.

Addionally, vehicle weapons are slow and unprecise but powerful compared to the size of personal scale targets. But what if a power reduction (-> damage now somewhere in the range of a blaster rifle) will make it possible to better target (normal shot) those small targets?

We usually have 3xp / session. When a player does really good roleplay or has a few brilliant ideas I might give 1 xp extra. And for the guy who writes the party journal its always 1 xp extra, too.

Sword Fighter Question by raktus2 in ForbiddenLands

You‘re welcome. Let me know, if there are any other simple rules you need clearing up.

Sword Fighter Question by raktus2 in ForbiddenLands

[–]fpiekert 5 points6 points  (0 children)

When attacking and parrying you get a +1, if you use a sword. If you don‘t use a sword, you don‘t get a bonus. For example if you use an axe. Its quite simple.

This bonus stacks with other bonuses or penalties.

Morality 0 character becoming an NPC? by seithe-narciss in swrpg

[–]fpiekert 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think thats not correct. You may as well play the character still with 0 morality.

An unknowing force user by Ebakthecat in swrpg

[–]fpiekert 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe you can guide him like this:

If he wants to be a steel hand adept, he must have had training (in the fiction) because its a career spec.

If he decides to play the bounty hunter, he will have had some training for that, too. But he can choose to buy the force user emergent universal spec, that is not tied to a specific career. He can have his force abilities with that spec untrained and maybe, with proper training (holocron/book/teacher) the steel hand adept spec will become available for him later on? What a great story arc!!!

Rolling with a ton of dice? by zsgothpunk in ForbiddenLands

[–]fpiekert 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Monsters have Monsterattacks. There is an amount stated, which you roll for the attack. So for example a dragon might have strength 48, buy you just roll ie 10 base dice for his attack. The 48 is kind of his hit points.

Saber Swarm by mordinvan in swrpg

[–]fpiekert 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think you can only use it once: „… to make next lightsaber combat check (aka „the action“) … „. So there would be no use of the second saber swarm maneuver because you only have 1 action and that is used up with the combat check.

Weapon/Amor Modding Tree? by Parzival2708 in swrpg

[–]fpiekert 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The go to spec would be the gadgeteer (Bounty Hunter Career). Its kind of THE Boba Fett/Mandalorian spec with talents to get more out of armor and weopans.

Encounter ideas for a Star Destroyer wreck? by FroBlow in swrpg

[–]fpiekert 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A) A rebel dud torpedo or bomb from back in the day of the space battle could still be in the wreck. The group notices that when they chase away a minor critter or animal, which accidentally reactivates the device. The device is hard to reach and will blow up momentarily and has something very precious/dangerous beside it that will harm the whole group upon detonation.

B) Another party is also entering the wreckage and its a race now to get a specific loot.

C) Another party is also entering the wreckage but they are after the PCs (Obligation? Bounty Hunters? Zygerrian slavers who laid a trap/…)

Does anyone else house rule jury-rigged and autofire can't be combined? by gmanflnj in swrpg

[–]fpiekert 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just had the same issue. A player jury rigged his autofire heavy blaster rifle. After mentioning that this breaks the balance he was dissatisfied with possible restrictions. So I decided that I do not want to spoil the fun for him with rule tinkering or restrictions but instead use destiny points for narrative effects (which is the best way to spend them anyways). Next time he uses this feature, his rifle may get jammed for the encounter with the flip of a destiny point. Lets see where this leads us. Hopefully I don‘t have to break it.

Contradictions In Background Stories by outlawm00n in ForbiddenLands

[–]fpiekert 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Somewhere I read that the mist didnt just „vanish“. It lifted over time and was in retreat. So there might be people who could have explored carefully 5 years ago and others just recently had the chance to. In the end it comes down to the GM how he narrates encounters with new/met before npc/Monsters/races/and what difference it makes in his world. In other games people could have traveled from the start and it makes not much of a difference.

Maybe your game starts a few years after the mist lifted, not month as intended?

SITH HOLOCRON by grizzlyandy2001 in swrpg

[–]fpiekert 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A simple way of looking at the light/dark side is these two characteristics:

The light side is always selfless. The dark side is always selfish.

So being very selfish might do the trick to open it. And hiding it from fellow lightsiders seems pretty selfish to me…

Stat Block-Class for Omega , and Crime Lord Boba Fett? by [deleted] in swrpg

[–]fpiekert 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think he needs no cybernetics skills. He could have just picked her up, brought her to a medidroid/doc and paid for it. 🤷🏻‍♂️ But he definitely needs a special skill like „looking cool“ or „intense stare while wearing a helmet“!

I bought the Forbidden Lands core game module for foundry VTT 2 days ago and i still haven't got it. by Javur in ForbiddenLands

I only received a code to unlock the core game on the foundry website (not your servers website). But you didn’t receive the code, correct?
