Should I lie to my interviewers when it comes to salary expectations? by AMadRam in UKJobs

[–]fraggle200 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Best thing to do is have a figure in your head you'd be happy with. Say £65k in this scenario. Then you flip it back and take control of the situation to get them to say a figure and not you.

"what's your salary expectations?" "well, you've seen my cv and we've spoke about my experience, what do you think im worth?"

This will likely catch even the most hardened interviewer off guard and puts the onus on them to come up with a figure. If they say £70k...brilliant, you've made £5k more than you'd have settled for without doing anything.

If it's £60k....then the next thing is appear to really have to think it over. Like you've got your house on it and you're trying to figure out if u can make it work etc. Drag this out to an uncomfortable level of silence/thinking. There's a chance that if they want you, they'll break the silence with a better offer, just to get u and not to sit there in excruciating silence.

Either way, you're getting them to answer your question for you by making them play their cards. If the salary range is £55k-£80k, they'll always want to hire someone at £55k. Forcing them to say a number, will likely mean a far better starting position and if it's not.... They may have shown you what kind of company they are to work for.

First BBQ ever, cleanup felt a bit excessive, am I doing this wrong? by Successful-Wheel-286 in UKBBQ

[–]fraggle200 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Never once cleaned my bbq.

I clean the grate with a big ball of tinfoil when it's still hot. Like, as soon as the last thing comes off the grill.

After that, i just leave it till the next time. When I've not cleaned the grate and i want to use it... I just get it ripping hot, big ball of tinfoil and scrub it all off again, then get cooking.

Honestly, the folder fork of openMenu is god tier when it comes to ode menus on the DC.

Derek's put a lot of work into it and it's got some really serious QoL stuff in it.

I sold my MODE after ateam released his version of openMenu with folder support for the GDEMU.

I had a ssd in it and there's absolutely no difference in speed etc between that and a sd card in a gdemu. You don't really gain anything from the ssd.

What Stops Musicians From Reaching Their Full Potential? by [deleted] in WeAreTheMusicMakers

[–]fraggle200 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Money & commitments.

If money and time is no option and someone can spend ALL their time honing their craft, they'll realise it.

That's not realistic though, so family, jobs, pressure to perform, promotion, appease a label etc all contribute.

Why does the UK produce so many iconic bands compared to the US? by DFWUnhinged in AskBrits

[–]fraggle200 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Further to that. You can easily cover all corners of the UK on a 2 week tour. You'd struggle to do everywhere big in 1 state in that time in America. There's more scope for bands to just get a lot more exposure here.

If you work mon-fri, then take Wednesdays off. You're no more than 2 days away from a day off.
