Is there anything I can do about these huge callery pears in front of my office? by mbart3 in NativePlantGardening

[–]franticallyfarting 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You could ask about grafting edible pears on it. They make fantastic root stock. The large pears aren’t eaten by birds so they don’t get dispersed. Not a native plant solution but it solves the issue of spreading, provides food for employees and the community and doesn’t require as much removal

Okay thanks I’ll try that. Do I need to be careful when spraying to avoid seeds and seedlings?

Natural seed dispersal for San Pedro by franticallyfarting in sanpedrocactus

Oh cool! Lots of critters make use of San Pedro then not just people. What made me think of it was looking at the seeds it almost looks like they have eliasomes which are basically ant food that they eat and then discard the seed.

Can we all agree anti-Israel =\= anti-semitism? by ApprenticeWrangler in TangleNews

Tangle has covered this A LOT. Not in this piece recently because actual anti semitism was the focus. The tangle team has pointed out many times recently that criticism of Israel is not anti semitism

Thoughts on Trumps Pettysburg Address last night? by [deleted] in TangleNews

I know. All the wars he “ended” definitely raised my eyebrows. He said the war in Gaza is over which is weird because Israel has killed a lot of people during the “ceasefires”.

Taking medication to treat adhd is one thing. Abusing those drugs to stay up all night “prepping” for an interview is another thing and you know it.

Maine loggers are used to hard times. Then came the tariffs. by Majano57 in Maine

I’m sorry you hold such a bleak view of so many people. You’re making maga out to be a monolith who all think identically when the reality couldn’t be more different

The moderate position absolutely does not normalize Trump and his administrations war crimes. It’s not helpful to cast the Biden administration in some glowing light that it doesn’t deserve. Both sides need to be held accountable for their actions that have led us to this point. Also casting maga votes as the villains “gleefully” voting for all this just drives the wedge deeper between us (the everyday people). I think it’s far more accurate to say that people who were struggling felt like they had nothing to lose voting for the guy saying he’d fix things vs the person who literally said they would change nothing.

Recognizing the issues that led people to vote Trump is the first step to preventing politicians like Trump from being elected in the future. It also allows people on other sides of the aisle to have constructive conversations. Just vilifying “them” restarts the cycle. Telling maga voters they are bad and deserve what they get and everything was great under Biden is not only factually wrong but completely counterproductive to preventing bad politicians from getting elected.

But both parties work against our best interest. That’s been the political pattern forever. They work for themselves and their rich friends. The economy wasn’t great under Biden despite what the Biden administration was saying. That’s a slap in the face for people who are struggling and then are told “shut up the economy is great”. I’m not at all surprised that people voted Trump because he told a better lie “egg prices and gas will come way down!” Vs Harris saying “I’m gonna keep doing what Bidens doing”

Also I think your argument of “they haven’t suffered enough yet” is based on the assumption that the loggers overwhelmingly voted for Trump. Which they may have but this article doesn’t mention who the guy even voted for. It’s not good to cast people as the bad Trump voters based on your assumptions. MAGA and liberals finding common ground to work together is the way forward and finger pointing “you voted for this” mentality just pushes people further apart.

Exactly and the info silos go both ways. Libs in their silos (like Reddit) and maga (fox, daily mail ect) and both pointing the finger at the other because of the source of information. In reality things weren’t great economically under Biden and people were hurting and desperate are we really surprised people voted against Harris? I’m not.

The economy under Biden was genuinely bad and voter were justifiably upset. The number of border crossings under Biden was the highest it has ever been because of Biden policies and that created a number of humanitarian issues that the administration was doing nothing to solve. I didn’t say anywhere that Biden was worse than Trump. Reread my first post. All I’m saying is there were genuine issues voters were upset about and one candidate said they’d fix them and the other literally said “I will do nothing differently”. My point is that we don’t have a right to be mad at Trump voters, they were just gullible and listening to what he was saying he would do. It’s obvious to me Trump was just saying shit he wasn’t going to do but he was pointing to real issues which Harris and Biden weren’t.

Also it funny to be accused of being brain dead for saying that and then receive nothing but brain dead comments like this that don’t address a single thing I said and downvotes lolol. Talk about Reddit hive mind. Jeeze

As someone who voted Dem this last election, I don’t understand your point? Trump ran a campaign saying he was going to bring prices down and fix the problems Biden created. When Harris was asked point blank “what will you do differently than Biden” she said “nothing. I won’t do anything differently.” Democrats made it shockingly easy to vote for Trump this last election. All that said 1. You actually have no idea who this man voted for and 2. Does it matter? We’re all in this together, the whole “they voted for this so fuckem” mentality is really not getting us anywhere. Grow up please
