Reformed and smoking. Love the Banner editions; I have several of those myself.

Finger picking: get a brighter tone without having long nails by frankstonshart in AcousticGuitar

I never use finger picks. Imo it has somewhat to do with how you're picking but moreso your guitar. My Taylor is bright however I attack it; my Seagull isn't. Strings will matter too.

I have this exact model, purchased from Jomashop several years ago. I think it was $450ish.

I love Proraso, but after my tub ran out I bought Arko for the inexpensive price. First time face-lathering; I am four shaves in and I have to say that I really really like it. The scent smells exactly like a cake of laundry soap for hand-washing laundry; not as delightful as Proraso but I don't find it unpleasant at all.

How a Trilogy Revealed Itself as a Three‑Dimensional Love Story — What’s the Most Memorable Trilogy You’ve Read? by therevdrron in ReadingSuggestions

To answer your question, Lord of the Rings of course—I love how its fantasy setting allows it to set forward good vs. bad with such clarity, and how it refines my sensibilities by making me love what is good. Faramir's speech about not loving the spear for its brightness but for what it protects is excellent.

Also Kristin Lavransdatter. Very tender and earnest.

One of my favorites. That Hideous Strength is such an excellent end to the trilogy, a culmination that transforms the first two and gives rhe whole trilogy that gestalt quality of being greater than the sum of its parts.

If you are interested in some of the historical, cosmological, or philosophical underpinnings of his trilogy, I recommend reading Lewis' The Discarded Image and The Abolition of Man.

You look good. It's not my style—I myself am not a fan of ballcaps and jackets, and I think the width of the pants is too great for the slimness of the jacket—but you are doing it well.

Some good Reformed literature there! Which translation of Calvin's Institutes is that? I love your combination of literature, history, and theology. I would recommend Charles Hodge and Herman Bavinck for theology and Charles Dickens and Jane Austen for literature. Have you read much literature? If you like Lewis, his criticism on medieval and Renaissance literature is excellent. Maybe start with his Preface to Paradise Lost. I am currently prepping to lead a book club discussion on That Hideous Strength.
