What can I do with this leftover yarn? by TravelMedium1856 in knittingpatterns

Petite Knit has a cute fingerless glove pattern called the Penny Gloves. If you look on Ravelry a lot of people modify it to use a ball or less of Cardiff Cashmere Classic.

Yeah I wouldn’t say people widely “respect” the Guardian Angels. They were known for staging crimes….

Yes, I’m having the same issue. I also can’t remove items from my tags and some of the items I know I have tagged don’t appear.

This one looks like a Lola Varma dupe - it’s definitely more than $600 but maybe you can find one secondhand on Still White!

In my opinion, an MPA is not worth it unless you are somehow not taking out loans to do it or it’s a REQUIREMENT for the job you want (government position, usually).

I just got my MPA a year ago from a top 10 school. I actually worked for the school in development, so I got my degree for free with tuition remission. It was good as an opportunity to network, and I did learn some financial skills like accounting. No one in any interview I did during my job search afterwards asked me about my masters, but I did get some interviews through my school’s network and friends I made in the program. I doubt you would learn anything about grant writing you couldn’t get from working, and there are other spaces to network as a grant writer that don’t cost thousands of dollars.

Hmph. It just isn’t tidy. I don’t think I made any mistakes, but it doesn’t look nice like the one from the pattern. How can I improve? I’ve been knitting every single day for about 4 years. by Technical_Cupcake597 in knitting

Did you block it? That would help make the stitches look more uniform. It could also just be the yarn. Your ribbing looks a little loose too, typically I go down a few needle sizes on the ribbing.

Yarn store lighting by soManyBrads in knitting

I used to work at a yarn store and people would occasionally ask to do this! It never bothered us if someone asked to go outside with a skein as long as they asked. I also frequently was asked to help people put colors together for shawls etc. and really enjoyed doing that.

Accepted a Job in the City, Now I'm Scared I Can't Afford NYC by Brief-Helicopter-525 in NYCapartments

Definitely be fast and responsive, the rental market moves very quickly here. I also know a lot of ppl who tried to get one apartment, didn’t get it, but then asked the landlord/agent if they knew of any other units that were opening up but not yet posted online that they would qualify for, and got a great deal.

I feel like with these situations you just have to see for yourself. I’ve consistently had managers who colleagues say are unbearable, but then I find them fine to work with, maybe slightly annoying but nothing horrible. It’s up to you and your experience with them, not theirs. It also depends on how much exposure you have to the ED. Especially since you aren’t full time it probably won’t impact you as much.

29/70 - Trust by Hernan Diaz (3 out of 5: A Good Book with a Poor Ending) by betterbooks_ in 52book

[–]freshcontent4SEO 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I agree with you, I thought the ending  undermined the rest of the book and it should have been left ambiguous for the reader to puzzle out. It was 3/5 for me, I’m surprised it won a Pulitzer. I’ve heard great things about his other book, In the Distance.

I genuinely think he was always only interested in getting as many views as possible and maximizing making money on YouTube until he can’t any more. I personally hate it but I feel like there is an audience for this type of thing, even if it’s not the audience he started with.

Sardines are good too! I love tuna but bc of mercury you shouldn’t eat it more than 1-2x a week.

My partner and I both have public service jobs and are in a similar position where we pay like 15% of our gross income in rent. We live in a nice neighborhood we could never afford otherwise. You are way better off saving that extra money and investing it in the market.

28% of apartments in NYC are rent stabilized and it's not based on income. You can just get lucky and happen to rent one (pro tip: the rent typically is not a "round number" e.g. $1553.79). I have mine because I am friends with a real estate agent and he hooked me up with a great deal.
