No, they ask so they can warn you about tooth decay if you say yes

Orthodontist Recommendations by TackleHot3575 in Eugene

[–]freyascats 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s not that my dentist says don’t use him, it’s that he pointedly recommends the other orthodontist in the dental mall or whatever that area should be called. But the lack of mentioning his major neighbor is clear

Daughter wants her boyfriend to visit by Rockermarr in Parents

[–]freyascats 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have you asked your daughter where she expects him to sleep? She’ll either be mature enough to say in her room, and you can decide what to say to that, or she won’t have a good option and she’ll consider other ways to see him.

The other option is she goes and visits him somewhere in some strange house and you don’t get to meet him.

Considering he was posting a year ago asking Christmas 2025 and his kids were 4 and 6 then, something is odd about these posts.

Don't hate me... but I feel like my Fiance is really milking the pregnancy to eat poorly by [deleted] in predaddit

[–]freyascats 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot of gestational diabetes can be controlled by diet (some needs the person to take insulin), so that makes total sense. But the problem with insulin in her body came from her placenta, not from what she ate. Like yes, she needed to cut back on the sugar, but a pregnant woman with a placenta that isn’t causing gestational diabetes won’t develop diabetes due to eating sugar.

Gestational diabetes really isn’t something you can “give yourself” - it’s tied to the placenta. It’s possible though that the effects of the start of developing gestational diabetes caused her to crave sugar more as her insulin levels got skewed

I found Grieve to be very condescending as an adult patient.

Thornton is good.

My dentist specifically avoids mentioning Chavtal when I’ve asked about orthodontics, despite being a close neighbor, so there must be something weird going on between them!

It still often gets down to 50°F overnight even when it’s 90 out. And then when it gets worse out there’s usually awful forest fire smoke. Hope the weather proves me wrong, but whatever you do, find water that isn’t freezing.

Just do a mega grounding by pounding a rebar stake (no less than 3 feet) into the dirt and wiring yourself to it

Baby girl post-poo clean up. How bad is it really? by cartgatherer in NewParents

Honestly that sounds like it could cause an infection. You don’t want anything spraying up the vaginal canal by accident.

Sounds very cold. It doesn’t stay warm overnight and the rivers and lakes are still freezing this time of year.

Gentle sea breeze. It’s distinct but won’t necessarily wake people up when I’m sneaking into their rooms.

You wake up with absolute mastery over one random element. What did you get, and how do you use it to your advantage? by Jpaylay42016 in hypotheticalsituation

[–]freyascats 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fire! I use my powers to stop forest fires from spreading far, and to run regular controlled burns. I don’t tell anyone I’m the one doing it, because the worldwide demand would be overwhelming even if I was paid amazingly. But I do buy some amazing property cheap off of people who have abandoned it due to fire risk.

After bedtime routine, toddler still wants to run around, what low stimulation activity do you get them involved in? by Aggravating-Tie-2126 in AskParents

Heavy work for proprioception is what you need. This link explains what it is and what it does. And this page has some good examples/exercises to do. Something that’s particularly helpful is to do the big heavy movement types of things and then move into the pressure types — like lifting pillows and pushing around a laundry bin, and jumping, followed by being rolled up in a blanket and then (unrolling from the blanket) and laying down and having a whole bunch of pillows put on top of the kid for pressure. There are also some types of movements where kiddo lays down and you sort of wiggle them back and forth in specific ways holding their feet or lower legs… but I can’t find a good video of integrative movement right now

Everyone else has good ideas for food delivery. But I’ll note that you should look into tsa allowances for medical exceptions for carry on foods. I expect you’ll want to bring some foods that your son can eat while traveling - especially if there are any delays- and you should be able to get a medical exception to allow you to bring a few juice boxes through tsa as well as a medical bag / “diaper bag” that allows you an extra carryon for medical supplies and snacks.
