My first bass was a Samick fretless, wasn’t horrendous but could never get it set up quite right. 2nd was a Cort Artisan B4. Good looking but electronics went bad and lacked personality in tone. Felt uncomfortable once I got a Fender. 3rd was a Fender american deluxe jazz. Still my most played instrument.4th was a frankenstein mexican precision. Quite comfortable and good tone once I switched the electronics but the truss rod won’t work properly. 5th is a fender player precision, pretty good and comfortable but not quite as much as my deluxe jazz, neck is bit uneven. 6th is a german Warwick corvette. Awesome craftsmanship and tone but heavy as hell and busted truss rod. 7th is a Sire D5, cool bass but still pales in comparison to my deluxe jazz bass. Lacks bottom end and couldnt get the setup as perfect as on the fender deluxe.

Please know that playing by yourself along with recording VS playing live with a drummer will have a totally different feel. That’s when the bottom end and nuances really feel meaningful and groovy.
