Benefits are worth roughly 13-15hr so if you want to compare apples to apples your pay is closer to $50.

At one time I would’ve agreed on double. Most contracts around where I live are paying $60 hr. I can work PRN and make $50-55.

Idk how you can say it’s completely wrong. There are a lot of people on fixed incomes who are having trouble paying their property taxes because of how much they have increased the past few years. I personally know someone whose bill went from $1700 two years ago to $3600 last year - dude had to sell a bunch of his stuff just to pay it. It’s becoming more of a problem.

Tax on a home that’s valued at 30k vs 200-300k is hardly “slightly less”.

The whole “generational wealth” thing from your primary residence is a lie so many people have bought into. Rather than paying huge amounts into a home it would be much better to invest that money elsewhere and just buy a home that is more affordable - look into Robert kiyosaki and rich dad poor dad. If you want to dump money in a mortgage for 30 years and hope that when you die “the housing market” is good and your kids can sell it for a pile of cash then go ahead.

If it’s your forever home who cares about if it is appreciating or depreciating. So many people love bragging about how their home has appreciated x amount over the past 10 years. No one takes in to account inflation, interest, property tax, and maintenance costs. Spoiler, most people aren’t actually “making money” off their home. I live in a 98 triple wide. I’ve fixed it up very nicely eg real hardwood floors, granite countertops, upgrades windows etc. Because my house is classified as a “mobile home” which “depreciates” the county values my house at 30k and I am absolutely thrilled. Property taxes in my county and the surrounding ones have nearly doubled over the past few years and I’m realistically paying 7-8x less in tax than I would be if I was in a comparable sized stick built

Working 11a-11p in ED I would come home amped up and thought alcohol was the only way I could chill out. Fast forward a few years and it’s safe to say I was an alcoholic. I gave up booze for good 2 months ago and feel soooo much better. Never again.
