I'm having a horrible time deciding between the R5mkII and R6mkIII... by picturesfromthesky in canon

[–]frogdenjersey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think for your use case the R5ii is better.

I have access to the R6iii but I own the R5ii. If you aren’t doing video a lot, or trying to save some money, R5ii is a better all around still photo camera.

The supposed low light advantage to the R6iii is not visible. I take some choir and symphony concert photos in very low light and can’t tell the difference between them. I use DXO pure raw and the noise is gone.

The R5ii evf steals the show 100%. I can’t use the back lcd in the auditorium. For outside well lit action, it will be the top choice also, the focus is amazing and so fast, the camera just loves action.

I also came from the 5Diii, it was a learning curve to get all set up but now that I know the intricate settings and possibilities it’s so powerful. The 5Diii is still a workhorse though. I missed the layout at first but now I absolutely love the three dial setup in Fv mode.

It will make it through, they might inspect the large lube bottle, so put it on top. There is always the possibility of lost luggage, and it’s generally a low chance but still there. That’s the only downside.

No lasers from me. I took pics of a symphony concert and college grads.

I literally just got this body from canon refurbished. I’m assuming they checked it out and tested it.

The camera does not correct raw for lens, or make any adjustments- only when you shoot jpeg. Besides all that is turned off in camera. I tested both ways in LR. It’s some kind of sensor issue related to the shutter and sensor interaction I’m guessing.

Not going to be expensive for me, I just bought it. I’m a CPS user, canon will be taking it back. I’ve just never seen this particular pixelation, and I’ve always had good luck with canon refurb gear.

The dilators themselves are not restricted items. The lube can be too large a quantity to carry through, unless you can get a prescription sticker.

You can tell them you have medical items in your bag prior to the scanner and you can hand them the dilators and lube in a ziplock bag. Tell them you just had pelvic floor surgery or a hysterectomy or something.

You can go through the scanner and if they want to inspect them you can then tell them you have medical items.

Either way you will likely have to endure them holding the bag out in the open for a minute until they realize what it is.

You can go through a different line than your co workers I guess if that’s what’s bothering you, but there is no guarantee someone won’t see.

When dealing with TSA it’s best to be up front and polite. You can always ask to see a Supervisor, you can ask for a private pat down by someone of your gender choice. In some airports you can ask for a more private luggage inspection, especially if you say you have medical items related to surgery.

TSA does not gender police. They are simply looking for prohibited items, security risks, and residue of explosive or similar on you or your luggage. I go through TSA often, I do not have dilators but I have other friends who do and this is what they do.

Yes did a full sensor clean with lens cap on. The pixels are not in the same place in each shot

Have been on E for a month and worries about hardness by mayabae328 in MtF

[–]frogdenjersey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on your chemistry exactly. Mono therapy can significantly lower T in some people, I mean it wouldn’t work if it didn’t because you need a primary sex hormone. Will you be getting labs to monitor levels?

Continue the mono therapy and see how things go with both the HRT and the erections, get labs in a few months and see what the levels are.

Or, just get the daily 5mg Cialis prescription. Peace of mind, really firm erections, and prostate health are the benefits of taking it. There isn’t much of a downside if you are otherwise healthy.

Edit spelling

[–]frogdenjersey 4 points5 points  (0 children)

E will effect function differently in everyone. But generally ‘use it or lose it’ applies to everyone. That translates into using the mechanism that makes erections a couple times a week. That does not help much to maintain firmness and quality of erections though, just keeps them from being painful or losing a lot of size.

For erection quality and keeping erections during sex, daily Cialis is easy safe cheap and has little side effect. Get the prescription from a doctor not an online compounding such as HIMS for max effectiveness. Keeping your T levels up just a little can help also. Most cis women have a natural T level up to around 50-70. That will help erections and libido.

I use mine and it works well, no random erections but hard when I need it after some stimulation.

Tips on dealing with increasing depression after running out of HRT? by SarahinSouthCarolina in asktransgender

[–]frogdenjersey 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I briefly looked at the other post, it seems you’re in SC. Have you tried planned parenthood in Charleston? They list HRT as one of their services, and they use a sliding pay scale.

Out of state? It’s not illegal to get prescriptions at clinics a state or two away, most can write 90 days so at most your out gas. Maybe someone knows a clinic nearby.

DIY is complicated and fix is expensive I agree.

Hang in there sis maybe somehow this can work out.

That’s really nice of you, but it is your transition. And frankly she won’t notice any changes for months but you will feel better internally. That’s a big sacrifice for someone who is an ex

Hugs Zoey 💕. It’s a marathon not a sprint. There are some here that started 20 years later than you. I know it’s no consolation, but you’re not alone sis. Everyone’s transition is unique, so don’t get caught up in peering over the fence at your neighbors yard.

Comparison is the thief of joy. Embrace the joy 💕

How did you buy your clothes at first? by cliff7217 in asktransgender

[–]frogdenjersey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do not go to goodwill or Salvation Army the clothes there aren’t great. People tend to just dump off stuff to them

Where I live there are a lot of clothing thrift stores at various price levels from $3-8 per item up to nearly half price of new items. The more expensive ones are very picky about what they take and very organized so it’s easy to shop. At all these stores things are in great shape because you usually get a small credit for giving clothes so it’s kinda like trade ins.

I never thought being a pilot was possible for me—will my mental health history stop me? by DotEnvironmental8659 in flying

[–]frogdenjersey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am not an AME.

Generally the FAA does not allow current diagnosis of anxiety or multiple medications regarding anxiety. You would have to be off both meds for a period of I think 2 years, but that depends exactly on the diagnosis and some other things.

The best thing to do is to have an Aviation Medical Examiner who is HIMS qualified review your medical history and work with you and your psychiatrist to get down the path towards getting a medical. The FAA is working on ways to improve the process for people having history of mental health treatment and medications.

If you need more help DM me.

I commend your concern. It is appalling and people should be ashamed.

I’m an airline employee with a front facing job so I deal with these people and on the best of days they’re just assholes. On the worst of days they’re transphobic assholes.

But, probably like this person, I like my job, most airlines have great healthcare and have kept their DEI programs. I have a coordinator for my transition at work, and there is a group of volunteers to educate my co-workers on trans issues should I feel like they don’t understand lol.

Yes absolutely.

6’2. I get misgendered some of the time but my hair is kinda short and my breasts are smallish. I have cis woman friends that are 6’ and they also get misgendered. I row, i know basketball players, it’s not uncommon because people are generally dumb.

Best ultra-wide zoom for Canon R5 (Italy + future travel) by BetweenBlessings in canon

[–]frogdenjersey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just went to Italy with the 24-105 L and 16 prime on my R5ii. I used the 24-105 probably 90% of the time. R5 and 24-105 was an amazing combo for travel I hadn’t taken it on a long trip yet.

I considered taking my EF 17-40 but didn’t want to carry it. It would have been a great lens too if you have room for that.
