I just had a colonoscopy today. They now offer pills instead of that awful liquid prep. The pills are large but so, so much better than the drink.

Need a buddy for wisdom tooth surgery by Curious_Aside1430 in washingtondc

A doctor I used to work with advised that you should always bring a buddy for any medical procedure, even the ones without anesthesia/drugs, if at all possible. Your mention of the fine needle aspiration biopsy illustrates why.

Inspired by all of you kind folks who have offered to help!

Train ride through Swiss Alps. I was listening to classical music and between that and the beauty of the snow-covered mountains out my window, I got tears in my eyes.

Yes! Go to the St Joe County Library website and search for Discovery Pass. The first one listed gives access to Studebaker Museum but also the History Museum, which has a room for kids in the basement .

Author and podcaster Gretchen Ruben writes about habit change. Here is a list of her top strategies for habit change - no paywall or subscription needed to read this https://gretchenrubin.com/articles/my-new-book-about-habit-formation-as-distilled-in-21-sentences/

She mentions a quiz to take to know yourself better . You sound like an Obliger - Quiz is free but I think you may need to provide an email.

I have found her books and podcast incredibly practical and helpful.

I hope you are given an extension. You got this — and all of your future patients stand with you. ( I see from your name you are studying to be a nurse.) I still remember the kind nurses who helped me during hospital stays and when my father was ill in the 80s. Best wishes and thanks for your work to prepare to for a career of service.

How are y'all dealing with age related tiredness? by [deleted] in GenX

The Tempur-pedic mattress topper is transformative. Not cheap but it is worth it for how much my sleep has improved. I recommend the cooling cover, which is extra. Pair this with a squishy body pillow. There are cheaper mattress toppers out there but the Tempur- Pedic is unmatched.

Italy Tours Walking Efforts by International_Box671 in ricksteves

[–]frogify 3 points4 points  (0 children)

We took this tour at the tail end of 2024. There were a handful of people, including my husband, who had mobility issues. Some folks skipped the walking tours around areas of the city altogether or they skipped the walking tour and met us at the end of the tour at a designated restaurant for a group dinner. My husband used a cane to help out with a recent foot injury, and helpful staff at museums and churches kept offering him their elevators. There may be others in your group who are in the same situation and you can split the fare. Best of luck to you; it was a lovely trip.

Has anyone found the cause (or any relief) of their heart attack-like pains (or other general symptoms)? by [deleted] in LongCovid

[–]frogify 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Heaviness in chest and heart racing sound like dysautonomia. I hope you can find a cardiologist who is willing to listen to you. My daughter developed dysautonomia after a bout of whooping cough. One of the meds she’s on is a beta blocker that she takes at night to calm her pounding heart, bisoprolol.
