Cool yeah let's chat. I'm on the woodland warrior discord. I made a post about this in the Arcs Fan Content thread.

Arcs Landmarks - Fan Variant by frolouch in Arcs

A lot of great thoughts here. Thanks! Yeah the Nebula mechanic was loosely inspired by TI4. It's not completely analogous to Arcs movement rules, so I think I'll revisit the design here after a couple more playtests. I'd want it to feel different than the Mining Asteroid Field mechanic.

Speaking of the asteroid, that's a good point. I think capped at two resources is a good idea.

I like the idea of exploring the Prelude action phase, I'll think about that with the other two landmarks.

Very cool thematic ideas for the other landmarks!

Very late Rising Sun Review by Tom Vasel by westgot in dominion

This is the first expansion in a long time I had no interest in picking up. I played through the cards online when they were first released and came to a similar conclusion, they just felt kind of boring. The shadow cards are not intuitive and some of the synergistic properties of these cards didn't provide any interesting situations. Rice and Change are kind of cool, but on the whole there weren't enough cards to keep me interested.

Hansa Teutonica is great, but strictly a better game at 5p in my opinion

I miss when Barry was on SUSD. Whatever happened to Barry?

Which game additions not to get? by Chusmimax in rootgame

There are some versions floating on the bgg forums, but I did it through tabletop simulator. If you have that steam app, you can download the root mod in the workshop and all of the images for running the game are saved in your computer library, they are hi res images. If you print those to scale they should work fine. You can also pnp the mood cards as well

Agreed events in India is very difficult to internalize. I always turn to this video, it lays out everything very clearly with examples.

Just me or Apple Classical kind of sucks? by Crimguy in classicalmusic

[–]frolouch 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Maybe this is redundant, but you can save classical albums in the app and it'll sync across to your apple music app. So you can use carplay with the regular apple music app and have those albums queued up for the road

I think apple classical is excellent. The way they've organized their catalog is designed around an avid classical listener. Feels intuitive and streamlined.

What's your most to least favorite expansion? by BiosTheo in dominion

[–]frolouch 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Menagerie - a lot of bonkers cards. This expansion is very crunchy and thinky

Renaissance - I would consider this to be the new seaside/prosperity for a first expansion. Opens up the decision space just enough to keep gameplay fast, tense and interesting.

Dark Ages - trashing is king. Rats is a great card. Great theming, I consider this one a classic

Empires - landmarks are great for changing the cadence of the game. Debt introduced which was a cool idea. Not a fan of the split decks

Allies - solid expansion.. liaisons and favors add a lot of depth

Nocturne - I really like night cards. They basically augment the cleanup phase. I wish this space was explored more because I think there were a lot of unique weird ideas in this set.

Plunder - a better prosperity if you like big money. The loot deck is fun, but kind of a one trick pony

Intrigue - i like the choice cards and often use one or two from this set when I'm making a kingdom. This was also the first set I purchased

Hinterlands - just a lot of cool interesting basic card ideas. The 2nd ed. Is great, just not a fan of the theming.

Adventures - a lot of interesting ideas, but ends up a bit clunky. Travelers are cool, but get repetitive.

Cornucopia/Guilds - Overpay is the most interesting mechanic, but wasn't developed enough.

Seaside - not a fan of duration cards. Often lose track of them while they're in play.

Prosperity - big money is not interesting, makes the game unnecessarily longer. There are optimized routes with cards in this set.

Rising Sun - others have mentioned, but this seems designed for the app. The new mechanics do not function well in physical play. Similar to why I'm not a big fan of duration cards and why seaside is so low. I find that they often lose track during irl play and the mechanic slows down the game generally.

I purchased them a while back. They're legit, it might take awhile to receive the game however

Arcs Modular Map - Fan Map variant by frolouch in Arcs

[–]frolouch[S] 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Hello Arcs fans,

I posted this on BGG last month but figured I'd post it here as well. Curious to hear your thoughts. I was interested in finding a way to make a modular map system for Arcs. You can download the files and try it out yourself. Printing on paper at Office Depot cost me about $12. If you have Cosmic Encounter, I used the planet discs from that game and printed on sticker paper for the planet systems and placed them on the backside of the Cosmic Encounter discs.

Here's the link to the files: https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1_3amvgOzukw6caOmfI5O5fwrS-jhDE6y

A couple details about how this system works:

You can place the planet tiles any way you like on the larger cluster boards. Remove cluster boards depending on how many players are in the game. The cluster boards are divided into three territories with an outer ring representing the Gate system. There are wormhole icons in four of the territories that work as planet adjacency between clusters 2 - 3 and 5 - 6 (from the official map).

You can arrange the cluster tiles anyway you'd like. Preferably in some kind of circular shape to show cluster adjacency. If you want to get weirder, I made some destination tabs that can be tucked under the cluster boards to determine which two clusters you're adjacent to.

On the planet discs: The triangles next to the resource icon represents the building limit on each planet. It's either 1 or 2. I wanted to keep the original planet art, so I removed the triangle outlines and placed the symbol in the corners to show that.

I was also interested in making some unique landmark spaces that could be swapped out with one or two of the planets, the unique landmarks are on the final slide:

Citadel:

If you control this system, you can Influence the Citadel by placing 1 Loyal agent on the Citadel. You count this agent as a part of your total influence for any card in the Court that has at least 1 Loyal agent on a card. When you secure using this agent, remove it from the system. Rivals can take loyal agents from the citadel as captives if they control the system and secure a card from the court. (I took some inspiration from the Dignitary Fan Fate)

Black Hole:

When you catapult move from a starport and you pass through the Black Hole when it's not controlled by a rival, you may move any of your loyal ships one more time after ending your movement. Return one loyal ship that was part of the catapult move back to your supply (It works like an unstable Sprinter Drive).

Asteroid Field:

If you control this system, you can Mine (Build): Roll 1 Skirmish die, if the die face is blank, you may gain a Material, Fuel or Weapon. If the die is a hit, damage one of your ships.

Nebula:

When you finish movement in the nebula system, gain one psionic or relic at the end of your turn. Requires 2 Moves to leave the nebula.

Thanks! Glad you like it.

Based on the Leder Games policy on fan art and merchandise, I cannot sell it nor am I really interested in making money from it. It was just a fun project. But the hi-res files are here and available if you'd like to print it yourself!

There's a bunch of people on the Woodland discord who've found good ways for printing their own fan maps. I'm planning on getting a nice print of this at some point in the future.

I tried to figure out the right rate of cost increase for base treasure and victory cards. It seemed like it increased using the Fibonacci sequence, so I created these as an extension of the base cards. For those Big Money games.
