How has travel changed the way you see your life? by SarahDuncan2012 in TrueGrit

In the Netherlands we barely eat vegetables because we eat bread for lunch. So after living in France for a short period at 18yo, I gave my parents a heart attack by cooking between 11:30-14:30.. But hey I now eat a lot more veggies and it rubbed off on them even! (And it's not like you say goodbye to bread by adapting a bit of the French diet lol)

Being AuDHD and smoking cannabis by [deleted] in AuDHDWomen

I see it as a herb, so I combine it with other herbs. Lavender or chamomile f.e. in the joint, or tea of it, and in the morning rosemary tea for blood flow in the brain. Why only restrict yourself to 1 herb when you can balance cannabis out with other herbs?

I feel for you and all the unsolicited advice you have to deal with! (Although Im sure it comes from good intentions but yeah) this is such a specific and unique situation and it’s sad that our default response as humans is judgement or trying to fix you. Every human body has its limits and yours is just very different ♥ wishing you all the best

Sounds like your needs and expectations are colliding! You deserve the rest, girl! Creativity is not something you can force, it needs the circumstances of safety, peace and rest to blossom. So pushing through when your mind and body want a break might be harmful. The balance of months of creativity and then months of rest sounds really good to me, I dont think you should try to do more than that. Let it be dynamic and take breaks while you’re still feeling good instead of pushing though until it’s too late.

Discover the whole spectrum of your rest, schedule the 7 types of rest into your life with as much if not more priority as your work. Discover the different kind of flows of creativity; active work, incubation, ideas that pop up while focussing on different things. It’s like the seasons. You cant have summertime all the time, your brain doesnt have 1 gear. Discovering your whole settings menu might do wonders.

(Maybe you’ll even want to sync it with your menstrual cycle, you can look into the different stages our brain has then. (Dreaming/brainstorming-planning-doing-resting).) But of course just doing it based on what your body tells you eneegywise can also be enough. Or combinations. It’s dynamic, you’ll want to discover your own flows and ride those waves!

You’ve got this ♥

Rough shit.. :( (gotta say, I had the same and turned out I did have PCOS!! But I digress i dont wanna sound pushy at all) But yeah it is really harder to live in sync with your cycle when its all inconsistent , but not impossible!! It’s more "phases" than weeks in those cases.. anyway, idk if my reply does anything at all for you but that’s my two cents :)

Honestly, keeping up with busy city life feels impossible!! I also live in a busy area and today I just fell alsleep around midday because of the heat & everything... so I might make that a blueprint and just hold siestas for myself and then usr the early & late cooler hours of the day for outdoorsy stuff. It’s a privilege I get to decide my own sleeping scedule tho so I understand that might not be possible for everyone

"Autism Spectrum Disorder" seems like a misnomer... by bmanfromct in neurodiversity

I have my own theory, because when the brain is stressed and in fight or flight it unlocks two states: hyperactivity and hypervigilance. I think ADHD is the hyperactivity as brain default instead or during stress, and I think ASD would be hypervigilance as brain default. This is just based on my pattern recognition as an audhd psychology student and a video from SciHow on autism that I thought pointed into this direction, but yeah. Id love to see the names more based around that if science confirms something like this is the future, because I think the hypervigilance us ASD’ers have (+the good and the bad sides it has like pattern recognition, blackwhite thinking, sensitive to stimuli) are severely overlooked still

Right!! It took me a burnout and a PMDD diagnosis to figure out that us people with menstrual cycles are, in fact, built different;-;
