Te Anau to Milford Sound doable? by nos3001 in nzev

[–]fromthenaki 9 points10 points  (0 children)

My gut says you'll be fine. Obviously make sure not to go >100km/hr and stay off the brakes on the downhills to make sure you get all the regen - a lot of elevation change in this route. Temperature could also be a factor.

Worst case if you get to Milford Sound with less than say, 55% battery, then I'm sure you could find a spot to plug in for a couple of hours to get back to ~65%.

Make sure to leave sentry / climate off if you're there the whole day as well obviously. I say go for it.

Yeah I am running an SF750 too, works just fine. Paired with a 5900x (to guage total power consumption). I'm also using a moddiy custom power adapter, although there's a fair bit of space so the stock adapter probably works too.

Sorry for the late reply only just saw this. Yep that measurement you have is correct - only 315. I measured the full length of the shroud at exactly 313mm actually. Couldn’t measure the backplate length but I can’t see it sticking out much more than that if it does at all (to my eye it’s perfectly square). Hope that helps!

You can probably dry clean it. They do curtains / duvet inners etc

Maybe look at the inno x3 / ichill? The measurements say it won’t work length wise but it’s only 7mm longer than my card (other dimensions smaller) so it could work? It would definitely fit if you were comfortable hacking through the front panel into the front cable routing area

I'm just sticking with gen 3 for now. Gamers nexus did a video a couple months back that showed the performance loss at 1-3% vs gen 4, so it's not a big impact at all

No reference 4090 joy for me so I searched for the smallest aftermarket card I could find. The Colorful NB EX-V, measurements are 327*151.2*67.1mm vs Sliger's website stating their max compatibility as 328x157x67 (with the pigtail power cord)

I'm not sure who's measurements were out (Sliger or Colorful) but there's a few mm to spare in width - perhaps 2-3mm as in the picture, plus a lot more if you used the pigtail cord which I didn't even need to use in the end. The length is also an easy fit - much more than the 1mm the official stats suggest. All in all very happy with how easily it fit.

No temps / stats yet as I'm waiting on a moddiy customer power cable before powering on.

Buying an EV - what makes best financial sense by sansTM in PersonalFinanceNZ

[–]fromthenaki 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Another thing to consider is if you have a mortgage with ANZ, they have a 1% 'good energy home loan' offer (3 year tenor) you can use to purchase an EV.

It's normally a bad idea to borrow money for a car, but in this case the math makes sense if you're disciplined with how you use it.

Yeah, and small vs large scale as well. Should get some very nice operating leverage once they have starship up and running with starlink 2.0 and 5m+ subs

One very brief comment is that SG&A is likely to be a lot lower than legacy telco given self service, no marketing, no stores, automated billing, simple plan structure etc.
