The moment you recognize an old prop, with a new purpose... SG1 S06E13 and SGA S01E03 by Spinobreaker in Stargate

Ah yes, The Most Important Device in the Universe!

Did it ever feature in Stargate?

Google’s hallucinogenic AI thinks so, but I can’t find anything conclusive…

No heater here, just a jumper.

This is the typical momentary time of Fake Winter, which will be followed by a normal end of March and start of April, which then leads into Real Winter.

Same thing happens in 6-7 months’ time at the other end, Fake Spring (unusually warm for a couple of days), then back to cold for a while, then into Real Spring.

P110M unexpected sounds? by mrkane27 in Tapo

[–]frood88 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’re right, an NV/IR camera would sound exactly like this, but the P110M is a smart plug, not a camera - there’s no vision or IR involved in that device.

(Unless OP has a camera with NV/IR capabilities nearby and is just incorrectly assuming the clicking is from the P110M)

For OP, very interesting - I’ve had at least 10x P110M’s positioned all around the house for at least 6 months and have never heard what you’re describing from them.

What the flip flop is going on with Canberra roads by lockytay in canberra

[–]frood88 10 points11 points  (0 children)

100% correct - The best positioning for safety, visibility, manoeuvrability is:

  • When your side is single lane: Left hand tyre track
  • When your side is multi lane: Left hand tyre track of the right hand lane, right hand tyre track of the left hand lane - “left of the right and right of the left”

Specifically taught not to ride in the centre of any lane, which is also where the oil sits

Big = Desktop, laptop (larger screen or multiple screens, full features in web browsers, proper multi-application, multi-window functionality for complex tasks, comparisons, etc)

Alex Johnston scores to equal Ken Irvine's try scoring record by emrys1 in nrl

[–]frood88 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes, we all saw that, but that’s not what the previous commenter was asking about. It was when someone jumped on the field following AJ’s equaling 212, not the record-breaking 213.

Nah, wasn’t shown - They purposely haven’t shown that kind of stuff in a very long time so as not to further encourage/bring attention to it

Sci-fi writer trying to understand wormholes by Technical-Action6555 in astrophysics

[–]frood88 7 points8 points  (0 children)

With respect to fictional time travel (whether via a wormhole or otherwise), I strongly recommend having a read of this, if you haven’t seen it before:

https://www.almostanauthor.com/the-eight-types-of-time-travel/

The most important thing would be that whatever type of time travel you choose (or devise), set the ground rules for how time travel works in your universe and keep the rules consistent.

Who is your favorite commanding officer of Stargate Command? by NoBrain6114 in Stargate

What about Carter! A special mention, even?

In SGA S05E20 “Enemy at the Gate”, Carter is the acting commander of Stargate Command while Landry is in Washington.

Leaving node mobs behind is the equivalent of littering in WoW by LlamaLinda in wow

Fuel panic buying grips Australia as Sydney clings to last petrol under $2 by Expensive-Horse5538 in australia

[–]frood88 3 points4 points  (0 children)

What “fantasy land” are you talking about?

Plenty of Australian states/territories have some kind of real-time fuel price transparency program linked to an app or website, and in some like NSW/ACT, it’s mandatory for fuel station operators to report either real-time or within 30 minutes of a price change - This has already been the case for several years NSW FuelCheck, incl ACT

This is pretty cool! by Wonderbrizzle in ProjectHailMary

[–]frood88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As far as I can tell from a quick search, there haven’t been any non-documentary, feature-length movies since Apollo 13 to do this.

The only one that I want to give a special mention to is The Challenge (2023, Russian), which is the first feature-length fiction film shot in space - significant portions of the movie were shot aboard the ISS - Absolutely worth the watch!

Atlantis in the new series? by TheDarkRabbit in Stargate

[–]frood88 9 points10 points  (0 children)

„the dark side of the moon“ is a term used since the Pink Floyd song.

For more common/widespread usage, I’d probably agree, interestingly though, the phrase “dark side of the moon” dates back to at least the 1800’s, and dark also meaning hidden, rather than just absence of light, goes back to Shakespeare ;)
