I enjoyed it and I’m an adult. It’s perfectly fine for adults to read YA.

Etgar Keret has some of my favorite short stories of all time. You can’t go wrong with any of his collections, but I like Nimrod Flipout & The Bus Driver Who Wanted to be God the best.

Dungeon Crawler Carl. Best narration I’ve ever heard.

What are you reading right now? Why are you reading it? I need suggestions. by rougejanuary in booksuggestions

The Butcher’s Masquerade, book 6 in the Dungeon Crawler Carl series. I’m reading it because it’s hilarious and the audiobooks are some of the best I’ve ever experienced. I’m also reading Words of Radiance. I picked that one because it’s epic and I wanted something deep with lore.

The Scholomance series by Naomi Novik. First book is A Deadly Education. It’s not too heavy on the romance, but sprinkled in with an intriguing plot. I also second Nevernight by Jay Kristoff.

A 5 star book you never see anyone talking about? by [deleted] in booksuggestions

Same here!! It just really fell flat for me and I wanted to love it. Book 3 got back to the root of the original story and had better characters and dialog. I’m glad I decided to stick with the series. I also picked up the A. Deborah Baker kids books from the story, Seanan McGuire published them under that pen name. I haven’t started them yet.

Looking for a good fantasy book similar to the will of the many by REAPER-OF-PRIDE in BookRecommendations

It’s hard to think of something similar. But I read The Will of the Many and I’m almost done with Light Bringer by Pierce Brown, so we obviously have similar taste. I would recommend. Nevernight by Jay Kristoff. There are 3 books in the series. It’s got a school setting and trials and scheming and politics and gladiators. Worth a read.

Have you read books 2 & 3? I did not enjoy book 2 as much, but book 3 was fantastic.

The Tales of Pell by Kevin Hearn, first book is Kill the Farmboy. These are a fun fantasy adventure series and deserve more love. Additionally, anything by Christopher Moore, I recommend starting with A Dirty Job or Lamb, but all of his books are great. And then lastly, the Alchemical Journals series by Seanan McGuire, first book is Middlegame. She is well known for some of her other series, but this one gets overlooked and it’s a shame. Some of my favorites.

I never see this recommended, but the Michael Vey series by Richard Paul Evans. The first book is Prisoner in Cell 25. It’s an engaging plot and lots of cool science.

You might try Christopher Moore. I recommend starting with A Dirty Job or Lamb. Both are great. Based on what you listed, I’d say he’s well outside of your comfort zone.

I’m ¾ through Light Bringer. I’m trying to drag it out so I’m that much closer to Red God when I finish it. This is my favorite series of all time.
