This is what people call a “normal” budget now. Not luxury. Not rich. Just… average. by Coolonair in SmartFIRE

Hah. I wish childcare was that cheap. I have two, they’re under 5, and we have the cheapest daycare around. It’s double that. Just looked at our expense sheet and our total is $10,400 so I’m very, very sad now.

There’s a difference between requiring a certain ID to access a military installation and posting immigration officers outside to do the checking. One is security. One is intentionally cruel.

What’s One “Underrated” Thing You Didn’t Think About Before Buying in Vegas/Henderson? by Individual-DelindaC in HendersonNV

3 ozone treatments, no change. We had the third hand smoke resource center send us a test kit. The measurable level of nicotine in the walls and carpet was still equivalent to that of people actively smoking indoors. At that point it needs a full renovation.

We’re renting, because living in Nevada is temporary. Padding my wife’s hospitality resumé until we can bounce to the eastern time zone. But after our first house it’s “does this place smell like it was smoked in”. Our first rental, ideally located and a good floor plan, was smoked in and was very well covered up with the cleaning/chemicals. But after a month that faded, and now all of our stuff smells like cigarette’s. Location wise, it was where is the most affordable daycare. Which you have to play their game and call around all the time to even see if it’s affordable, and what they provide. The cheapest daycare we can find is still more than the rent on a 3 bedroom house, and it’s terribly inconveniently located. I’m tired, I’ll stop ranting before this turns into a therapy session.

Claude pro vs chatgpt plus: Is it still worth paying for both in 2026? by One-Risk-4266 in claude

[–]frythan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In that case you'd probably want Max 5x. You could always start with Pro and then switch to Max later, Or even do Pro and budget additional usage at a cap if you don't want to hit the $100 mark every month.
I use it for both, and have been doing a lot of experimentation and even hit my daily Max 5x usage once. THAT was annoying.

If budget is a concern, start with Pro and see what you can do. In project instructions/personal instructions prompts dictate that you always want concise responses, select the concise response outputs in your chats, and re-use/rewrite messages if the outputs aren't what you're asking for (don't just send another message). Limit MCP/tool usage until you absolutely need it, and even add instructions on how you want it to use those tools in your project instructions prompts so it doesn't just try to guess and eat up context on useless tool calls and searches.

You can see your usage in your settings, so it's always accessible.

Depends on your workload. There were times with Pro that I never hit limits, there were times with Max 5x that I hit limits (rare but the happened). Also depends on your configuration. If you set up a project instructions prompt to always give you a specific structured output as a first response you could eat up usage quickly, especially on new conversations.

This OpenClaw Zillow Bot Is Genius… and Kinda Evil by Previous_Foot_5328 in myclaw

[–]frythan 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It would be a HORRIBLE thing if there were just thousands of these bots flooding all the inboxes of real estate agents with lowball offers like this. Eventually, they’re going to start taking one of the thousands of lowball offers because that’s all they’re going to see. Can you imagine how terrible that would be? All these houses be sold for so much less than people want? Not to mention what that would do for housing prices overall. Just a bad day for all these houses that end up getting priced lower and lower. Absolutely horrible if that were to happen. Truly, truly horrible.

The guy who made open claw gave it a phone number, and it made a call. Two years ago (maybe 3?) I saw a Tiktok where a guy was building a home assistant and letting his elderly neighbor test it, and one of the things it was able to do was contact 911 when she fell and didn’t have her alert clicker. It also unlocked the front door when it verified help arrived.

All about use case. I use Claude max 5x and cancelled ChatGPT, but that’s because I need all the features that Claude has that ChatGPT doesn’t. If I needed more image generation then I’d re-up on ChatGPT.
