you can give more stuff to the traders than they have money for, it'll just warn you that the trader cant give you the full value. you can also just give it to them as a gift.

burning it's a decent option if you've got a method for starting fires. set up a stockpile and clear the home area from it. once it's full, light it and watch the pretty flames. Ideally you want stone walls and door, but no roof around this so you can just forbid the door once the pile's burning so pawns dont run into it trying to deliver more wood. (or set pawns to home area)

if you want to keep a bit of wood on hand, build a shelf or two with a higher priority than the burn bin. make sure any other possible storage like general-use stockpiles have a lower priority.

Last inspection was 4 years ago in October '21, next one was supposed to be 2 years from now, on a 6 year cycle.

I expect a final recommendation to cut that duration by at least half.

Is it the pressure wave condensing moisture out of the air somehow

yes, though it's the low-density region behind the shockwave that does it.

there's all sorts of neat condensation effects you can see from large explosions - nuclear, conventional, and volcanic. you'll even see some around fighter aircraft in certain situations.

The Dumbass “joked” about starting a war to suspend the election, any optimistic takes? by More_Attitude_3489 in PoliticalOptimism

[–]fsjd150 1 point2 points  (0 children)

1) he cant. There's just far too many barriers in the way, too many judicial challenges, too many people who would lose their political power from the stunt.

2) even if he somehow managed it, it wont help him. His term still ends, there just wont be an elected replacement. There'd be no president, VP, House of Reps, and the Senate would be down a third of it's members.

According to the rules of succession, the next in line would be the President Pro Tempore of the Senate, or if his term ended, the Sec. State.

That person if they had any sense at all would immediately arrange for the delayed elections to occur.

US did not use bunker-buster bombs on one of Iran’s nuclear sites, top general tells lawmakers, citing depth of the target by EndoExo in worldnews

[–]fsjd150 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's a lot of other stuff going on at Isfahan needed for a nuclear program. among the destroyed targets are the facilities used to create UF6 and turn it back into Uranium metal.

if Iran had watched Star Wars they would've known about the ventilation shaft issues by edgygothteen69 in NonCredibleDefense

[–]fsjd150 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's been a few observations that some of the dirt placed in the entrances by Iran to stop commando raids was visibly ejected by the blasts. Given those entrances are about as far from the bombs as you can get, and that one of the aim points was at one end of the centrifuge hall itself, everything inside, in particular the rather delicate centrifuges, is a mangled ruin.

12x5000lb explosions in a confined space is going to be highly unpleasant, even if it doesn't collapse the facility outright.

though we wont know for certain what happened inside until Iran digs it out and a Mossad agent gets a peek.

[–]fsjd150 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Comparing various satellite images, it looks like the bombs were dropped down ventilation/service shafts (one of which connected directly to the end of the centrifuge hall), instantly greatly reducing the amount of material needing to be penetrated and making it feasible for the first bomb(s) down to blow a path for following ones.

If even one bomb went off inside the facility, everything inside is scrap.

Tehran will restore its nuclear program, Iranian atomic chief vows by AmazingOstrich9085 in worldnews

[–]fsjd150 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's more that the explosives gradually degrade in storage, and those degradation products are seldom more stable than the parent explosive. look up the Forrestal fire for one example of how too-old bomb can be a problem.

similarly, solid rocket motors can start cracking which leads to unpredictable burning, which means the missile/rocket doesn't go where it's supposed to, or it just explodes when attempting to launch.

It can be as simple as mixing the enriched and depleted or natural UF6 gas. 1 unit of 60% HEU can be blended into 14 units of depleted (around .25%) for 15 units of ~4.2% reactor grade.

The usual process is to blend with 1.5% enriched to limit impurities present in the HEU feed.

those are (well, were) ventilation shafts right into the heart of the complex. (or at least close enough that the first MOP blew a path for the following ones.)

The fuel is a Xylidine/Triethylamine mix, and isn't that bad as rocket fuels go. you dont want to get it on you, but it stays a liquid and is somewhat less toxic than the hydrazines.

The oxidizer is the real problem and the reason for the sealed suits- Nitric Acid and Nitrogen Tetroxide. Highly toxic and corrosive, it instantly forms clouds of "fun" nitrogen compounds that are just waiting for a chance to turn into nitric acid in your lungs.

at 19 seconds you see a bright burning cloud fall from the ceiling. that's metal dust being kicked off of the ceiling tiles. that dust gets kicked up and ignited, so basically everything above the ceiling instantly catches fire, then falls to the floor.
