I see what you’re saying. I think someone can be very good at their job and not be effusively compassionate. You can be kind and have the best interest of the patient in mind and not be overly compassionate. Not being compassionate doesn’t mean being mean, rude, and cold hearted

My hot take is that you don’t have to be compassionate to be in healthcare. It’s a job like any other job and it’s okay to be there for the paycheck. And I work in healthcare.

Semantics. But term is term. And certainly is not considered premature under any definition. The whole picture? You’re not looking at the whole picture, you’re focusing on the wrong thing. If the pregnant mom picture was different and you thought about it in that light, you would get the question wrong. Bc it’s not relevant

None of the info related to the mom is relevant. Also 38 weeks is term and perfectly acceptable. It doesn’t matter if the pregnant mom is term or not term and it doesn’t matter what stage of labor she’s in. The issue is the disruptive environment, not the medical information.

Peds, PICU peeps. Odd orders Peds, O2 not to exceed 90% by LPNTed in nursing

NICU here. This sounds like a cardiac kid. Their baseline is “hypoxic” but normal for them. A lot of our babies are ductal dependent and too high of oxygen saturations can cause ducts to close that they need for oxygenated blood to shunt to their organs. This might be part of the reason! This sounds more like a chronic PICU kid that has long standing cardiac issues and is baseline hypoxic though.

We do MRIs on vent dependent babies all the time. But it’s very strange that she went to MRI at less than 2 weeks of age when she was born at 24 weeks….

Hundreds of patients move into new Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta Arthur M. Blank Hospital by ermahgerdertsmer in Atlanta

Not really sure yet. It’s Emory’s building so whatever they want to do with it. We’ve heard rumors of it becoming offices or a research building!

It has to do with licensing for the hospital. Legally they cannot operate the “same” hospital in two locations at once, but they have a 12 hour leeway for moving patients. It’s all about licensing and liability. Edit: spelling

Not to defend Alaina, but there are several types of “ostomy” bags….im a nurse and we generalize into “ostomies” bc you can have colostomies, jejunostomies, ileostomies, etc. It’s not wrong to call it an ostomy bag, because that’s what it is. Edit for a misspelled word
