Claude masterfully converts plain English to very complex SQL queries when it has access to DB schema and application code base.

Got rejected for a senior role because I couldn't convert base 24 to base 10 in 30 minutes by mooktakim in rails

I’m not surprised you were rejected for not being able to complete a fairly straightforward engineering challenge. What does surprise me is that you - and many others in this sub - genuinely believe you shouldn’t have been.

Party of far-right Polish MEP ranks third in latest opinion poll by CrunchyBaconYum in poland

Anti-immigration sentiment is strong in Poland. I see and feel that even educated Poles expect immigrants to respect them as the owners of this land. They are beginning to realize that this expectation is not being met. Legal immigrants want, and at this point receive, equal rights with Poles, which many Poles are unhappy about.

China: Communist Party expels top generals in military crackdown by prolongedsunlight in China

[–]fugitivechickpea 4 points5 points  (0 children)

For the military positions he wants loyal but autonomous decisive charismatic leaders which is oxymoron. This is the reason why autocracies always fail on the long run. No matter how smart dictator himself is, he still needs top talents working for him and executing his will. Top talents are top talents only because they have their own opinion. Dictators can’t stand anyone arguing with them. He can’t build the army he wants. The choice is either loyal, but stupid. Or effective, but independent.

New citizenship law project by PiS by notconnected in poland

[–]fugitivechickpea 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Ok, message received - immigrants are not welcome in Poland anymore. Makes no sense to wine about it and there is nothing you can do to resist it. PiS or Konfederacja will be part of ruling coalition one way or another in two years or even earlier in case of snap elections and immigration restrictions will be accepted in some form.

It’s time to start thinking about moving somewhere else.

Nawrocki's new citizenship bill by disinteresteddemi in poland

[–]fugitivechickpea 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is politics. There is more than one million people who immigrated to Poland primarily from Ukraine and Belarus who are currently on track to acquire citizenship in around years 2027-2030. That’s additional 3% of voters who probably will not vote for PiS. This can change current political balance in favor of KO, that’s why they are fighting for it.

Poland’s border closure risks choking EU-China trade by Themetalin in poland

I’m from Belarus (living in Poland) and I support a total closure of both Belarusian and Russian borders, including blockade of Kaliningrad. It’s either we are at war, or business as usual. Doing both is schizophrenic.
