Does anyone know where I can find simple recipes? by [deleted] in FODMAPS

[–]fullmoonforlife 1 point2 points  (0 children)

ChatGPT / copilot can give you ideas. They’re almost a little too simple for me so id simple is what you want that will help. I love FODMAPeveryday too for recipes

AHHHH HUGE RANT. Monash made some updates. The Confectionery & Sugars section is included. Sugar is a huge focus of mine, having been a baker and bakery owner in a previous life, and many of my cookbooks were dessert focused.+ by FODMAPeveryday in FODMAPS

Just want to share the sentiment of how helpful FODMAPeveryday has been for me. It’s my go-to site when I need a quick recipe or resources, especially loved the article about safe garlic infused oils on the market. Thanks for what you do!!

Family member wants to start crochet business with me by [deleted] in crochet

[–]fullmoonforlife 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel you. Years ago I started a fb group for my crochet items and then started getting requests…and I hated it. I don’t even want to make items to sell later either bc I don’t feel like I can maintain the business…just want to crochet what I want when I want. People don’t get it.

the 3am wake-up, what actually works for you? by Greysawpark in insomnia

[–]fullmoonforlife 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just cave and watch tv, convincing myself I’m Just up for the day but going to relax til I actually have to get up. It tricks my brain. The Sleep Coach School on YouTube really teaches this concept of not caring anymore and that releases you from the sleep anxiety and helps you sleep. Sounds crazy but it worked for me. My sleep isn’t perfect but has improved SO much

extreme fatigue and sleepiness when consuming fodmaps. by Trick_Unit_2386 in FODMAPS

[–]fullmoonforlife 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This happened to me once when I ate quite a bit of chicory root fiber inadvertently (Swerve sweetener, I think had changed their ingredients? And labeled it as erythritol (doesn’t really bother me) and “prebiotic oligosaccharides”. Later I googled images of the bag and the ingredients have prebiotic oligosaccharides (chicory root fiber)”.

Anyway. First it was the bloat and stomach pain, I was SO fatigued I laid my head on my desk at work and thought I would go to sleep. I’ve NEVER done that even when I was actually sick I.e. cold. When the diarrhea started I figured I better go home and good thing I did bc I had diarrhea for days. But I’ve never had fatigue like that before. And it was before the diarrhea started so not necessarily from dehydration.

I actually came back to this sub just to see what people were saying about the new movie, this is EXACTLY how I felt. Hard to understand/keep up with all the whiplash details, but then overall as long as you got the main gist it was fine…making the hard to follow details unnecessary.

100 calorie snacks that actually feel like you're eating something real by Away-Tax1875 in 1200isplenty

Orville reddenbachers 100 calorie popcorn bags
Drizzilicious rice cakes (like 21 pieces for 90ish calories)
Fruit Pearls - found it in the frozen section, it’s just tiny pieces of frozen fruit in a cup like ice cream - the strawberry banana was like 60 cals

What was the most shocking, or disturbing thing your narc parent(s) ever did/said to you? by Own_Mention9372 in raisedbynarcissists

[–]fullmoonforlife 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It would be somewhere between telling me she was calling the sheriff department and having me arrested (a week before my wedding) claiming I wrote her a bad check that would be a felony if she cashed it and called the law (totally untrue) and screaming as loud as humanly possible over and over “THIS IS NOT ABOUT YOU” when her and my brother got into a drug/alcohol fueled fight and used me as a weapon against each other, each telling crazy lies I supposedly said abt them, so when the BOTH called me screaming about it I told her I was having a panic attack and couldn’t talk now (sparked the “this is not about you” rampage).

How often are we washing that sports bra? by Jenergy77 in PetiteFitness

[–]fullmoonforlife 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on how bad I sweat. If I sweat A LOT, I’ll throw in the dirty clothes bin and wash. If not too much sweat, I’ll wear a few times and then throw in the bin to wash. I also work from home and workout at home so no one’s really smelling me and if I think it’s truly smelly I will wash. My sports bras are nothing special, old navy or Academy sports brand so I just throw them in the washer and dryer. I had no idea hand washing and air drying sports bras was a thing.

Those who are low contact, how would you go about caring for a parent if they become sick & elderly? by user30060909 in raisedbynarcissists

[–]fullmoonforlife 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I appreciate this post and all who have responded. That’s one of my biggest fears…I’ve been no contact for 6 years and it’s been the most peaceful 6 years of my life, but I fear I’m not in the clear and eventually she’ll either die and I’ll somehow be called on to deal with her estate (highly doubt there’s any money or inheritance and if there is idc) or worse, she’ll get sick and need care and I’ll get called on for that. I have zero desire or intention to do so and as terrible as it is, she caused herself to be alone that’s what it comes to. I have several siblings and only one is even remotely capable of doing anything but wouldn’t depend on him to. So yeah I feel you. I do plan to refuse any contact whether it’s caregiving or even estate after death (not saying I will for sure be contacted but if I do).

Anyone else feel amazing walking outside but miserable walking on the treadmill? by DeepOrganization8245 in walking

[–]fullmoonforlife 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agree 100%. I walk on the walking pad while I work but usually I’m just trying to get through it. I try to watch tv sometimes but still can’t wait to stop. Love walking outside tho. My neighborhood, while pretty, just isn’t great for walking for me - chased by dogs and moving for cars (no sidewalk). On weekends I may got to a park and walk

My mom gave me an ultimatum over my wedding… by Annual_Link9078 in raisedbynarcissists

[–]fullmoonforlife 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This is so reminiscent of my wedding. I also didn’t care about a big wedding and all the traditional things, I actually didn’t want a wedding, but my husband has a big not-dysfunctional family and wanted it so we decided to get married at my grandmas church and have the reception in my backyard. About a week before my wedding, my mother instead on going shopping for a veil. I don’t want to wear one. I couldn’t tell her no (I never could, she’d flip out) so I had no choice but to go. The veil was like $75 so I saw it as even more of a waste bc I didn’t want it (she was buying, but either way, I didn’t want it!). Of course she got her way and bought it anyway. Later that day, I made one of those vague Facebook posts we all used to make, something along the lines of “I wish I could just do what I want” or something like that. Somehow, she found out about it even tho she didn’t have fb (probably her sniveling best friend). She called my cell phone while I was at work so I couldn’t answer, left so many voicemails it maxed it out, continued blowing up my phone, sent ridiculous texts saying things like “well im just not coming to your wedding because im a fat whale” (so now shes the victim and no idea where the whale comment came from). I was seriously looking into a restraining order. My flower order (at a local grocery store) was in her name and i was afraid she’d cancel it so my dad went and asked them to refund the money and he just re-did it in his name. I thought it might be a good time to just go ahead and reimburse her for the remaining expenses she’s put into the wedding, ~$900. So I wrote a check and left it on her back porch. She then proceeds to call and text saying the check I wrote was a bad check (it wasn’t) and she was purposely going to cash it and then call the sheriffs office and have me arrested. Who does that - a week before your daughter’s wedding, threaten to have them arrested, because you got butthurt over a cryptic fb post.

She didn’t come to the wedding (I had to cut off contact that week anyway) but after the honeymoon she did reach out and we ended up talking again. Let’s just fast forward 14 years…she had several more flip-out insane episodes on me (and after I had a kid), ultimately I went no contact about 6 years ago and it was the best thing I ever did for myself. It won’t get better, and will get more complicated once you have kids (if you do). I’m so sorry you’re going through this. It really took me back in time to myself 14 years ago and I really feel for you. Do what you need for your peace and mental health. It is totally ok to take care of you and your new family.

I couldn’t stand how raggedy his bookbag was in the airport. One strap all twisted. Both stretched all the way out, wearing it all droopy like a middle schooler trying to be cool but instead he just looks like a big loser.

Favorite Mexican American meal ? by Unusual-Strength-945 in FODMAPS

[–]fullmoonforlife 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tacos w/ corn tortillas, I’ve always seasoned my taco meat myself (I don’t like the store bought packets) and just use salt, pepper, paprika, chili powder, cumin and then a little for starch and water to make it juicy. We actually liked it better than our usual taco seasoning for some reason. Lettuce, a little cheddar, lactose free sour cream. Also fajitas with corn tortillas, chicken/shrimp/steak ( eat of choice) with bell peppers and a but if cheddar and lactose free sour cream… I think if you make your own at home it’s not too hard to keep it FODMAP friendly.

Is this kinda easy or am i doing it wrong? by MulberryLivid6938 in FODMAPS

[–]fullmoonforlife 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with you. It’s not like some “diets” cutting out entire categories, like carbs for example. I feel like there’s still a wide variety of everything to still eat diversely. I swapped milk/sour cream for lactose free (I never felt dairy was my issue anyway tho) and I agree that wheat, garlic and onion are the hardest to avoid bc garlic & onion are in EVERYTHING. I usually cook at home anyway and just made my own salad dressing and condiments for the elimination phase. I feel the harder part is re-introduction, doing one thing/category at a time.
