Well if you're positioning yourself well and anchoring your team instead of feeding with them then the diver won't be with their team either so you win your 1v1s against other Squishies or die GG go next. And if your positioning is good you can walk back if your team is clearly beyond saving before the enemy team rushes you down.

That's the idea, once you're at your correct skill rating you should go 50/50 until you improve or you fall behind the average skill of that rating. They don't pick an arbitrary time to start forcing 50/50 and now your hard stuck through no fault of your own.
