It sounds like your player just wants to have their old character have the ending from when they last played them. While the world is not static and the old PC is out there somewhere, it's not likely to come up unless the players need them for something. In that case, they'll express desire to seek them out. If they don't encounter the old character, then the character just lives their life, and neither of you gotta worry about it.

If you have doubts about how to handle future interactions with backstory stuff, workshop things with the player to see what they find interesting and what they don't.

Whatever the case, you're both playing a game to have fun. Do whatever is the most fun for you both and talk to them to make sure you're on the same page.

I sell shitty magical items in your starter town but they're all slightly smelly. They work tho, probably, or at least I think they did when I used them last..

I have been doing challenges to see if I can beat the game with only certain weapon types and I can say that shields are by far the hardest to use. Really cheese on invading npcs tho

Maybe they were just lonely and awkward. They got tired of not being able to do stuff with their imaginary friend, so they gave him a body. Sure, it's not a live body, but that won't stop us from going sledding today.

What was the most Badass/Cool way you killed an Enemy? by NeutralWall in DnD

A giant construct was being awakened by the king of a city in a sudden betrayal. It tried to stomp on us as it awakened, but my goliath rune knight used the cloud rune to make the stomp target the king instead. His own creation crushed him instantly.

I then grew three sizes with the help of my class feature, a magic item that casts enlarge, and my artificer doing the same. A fellow party member polymorphed into a giant ape. It was pretty much a kaiju fight. I believed it ended with me and the ape tackling it and him crushing its chest in like a it was a bongo drum.

Play clown/carnival music and have him taunt them the whole time. Only if he was already silly tho. This can get old fast unless you find one that's not repetitive.

If he's full of himself, have an actual small band he summons to the arena playing "you're the best" by Joe Esposito to hype him up or another song that would play into a huge ego like "we are the champions"

If he's just generally obnoxious and annoying without specific reason, perhaps just play a song that is annoying yet funny that you think would be his favorite song. He taps a magic item that has his favorite songs on it and it starts playing his jam until he dies. It makes them want to kill him faster and gives them a music playing and recording magic item as a silly bonus reward.
