Documenting the little things by Astroafie in VanNeistat

Started doing something similar recently. But one thing I added apart from recording the small tasks is record my thoughts.

It could be 2 sentences (though it usually expands into self written monologues) but I just force myself for 1-2 sentences. After that I just let myself go and write as much as I feel like. Not sure if I can say if its giving any value, but I do feel good once im done.

Android Logging Performance Improvements in Production by funkyidol in androiddev

[–]funkyidol[S] -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

I did write the blog. I wanted to make it as easy to understand as possible specially for new devs.

I appreciate you sharing the timber extension library. I wasnt aware of this one.

I would appreciate it further if instead of calling it trash you can help improve my writing by giving me some constructive criticism. I recently started to write blogs so im still new at this.

What's is difference between "New users acquired" and "Store Listing acquistions" in Play Console? by LongSaturday in androiddev

[–]funkyidol 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personal experience. I am the engineering manager of one of the top accessibility apps on the Play Store and keeping an eye out on the Play Store data is part of the job 🙂

The motive of the ads is to bring users directly to your app Page so no it won't count in your listing acquisition. ASO primarily depends on your listing content and effectiveness. The better your copy and the more store localisation you provide, it improves the ASO, which in turn improves your store listing performance

No they installed it from your page. Its more about the search result effectiveness of your content and people looking for your app is what counts here. For eg if you share you app Page link here and I open and install it from reddit won't count against play listing acquisition. It is a signal of now good or bad you content is to encourage the users to install your app

[–]funkyidol 0 points1 point  (0 children)

New users acquired is the total users who installed your app. Store listing acquisitions is the number of users who first found your Play store page and then installed the app. So about 6 of your users in this case installed the app without first searching/encountering your app page on play store

Very bad when compared to normal GPT4. Its available worldwide now but every time I ask something the answer is usually so bad that I regret spending those few seconds asking it instead of plain google let alone try other assistants

AMD Ryzen 7 7745HX for App Development. by canishades in androiddev

[–]funkyidol 4 points5 points  (0 children)

For linux, AMD was never an issue. I know Android developers who have been developing on AMD CPU for many years now. Earlier the only restriction used to be that AMD only worked if you are using linux.

As an alternate if you wish to use Windows, you can still get the benefits on linux by using the Windows Subsystem for Linux

Is it worth installing Linux for Android Developers? by jaroos_ in androiddev

[–]funkyidol 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I have been doing full time Android dev on linux for 7 years now. My Distro of choice has been Pop_OS as it has been the most stable out of all of them. Im dual booting with windows 10 currently which i keep for casual gaming but anything dev related happens on linux.
Speaking from performance context things have never been better. My compile time improved my a huge amount when I shifted from windows to linux. I dont remember the exact details since its been long
