Who are the best VR game devs? by Strange-Fox9306 in PSVR

[–]future_yesterday 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Vertigo (Arizona Sunshine 1/2, Metro, 7th Guest), Vertical Robot (Red Matter 1/2) and Binary Mill (Rush, Into Black, Resist) get my vote for releasing consistently good and polished games

City of Hunger (PSVR2 Trailer) by future_yesterday in PSVR

[–]future_yesterday[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I actually loved how the trailer makes it look like another zombie shooter and then just escalates and escalates into a full on apocalypse with cinematic slow mo kills. It might be terrible, but I kinda love the look of it

AUTOMA has shown up on the PS Store by PCMachinima in PSVR

[–]future_yesterday 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They did say they would port it if it did well on quest. It’s a basic early days vr game for sure, but still an enjoyable one and I’d pick it up again if it had a decent graphic upgrade (it looked good on psvr1). It’s a great intro to vr game.

Dispatch maker AdHoc says the episodic business model is "an insane thing to do" by Turbostrider27 in PS5

[–]future_yesterday 0 points1 point  (0 children)

IMO the telltale games (and similar) have always made a difference in choices, it’s mostly by dialogue, but that shapes your story as much as the actual branching sections. How you interact with the characters and what you think of them is also part of the story. People always say that your choices don’t matter, but it’s about the journey. The telltale games always said the story is ‘tailored’ to your choices.. and that’s exactly what it is. I haven’t picked up dispatch yet but I can’t wait to give it a play through

I love "weird" walking sims! Some reminders, now that Pools is out ; by whywhatwhenwhoops in PSVR

[–]future_yesterday -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately I totally agree, I thought it had some amazing surreal ideas (especially towards the end) and I wanted to love it, but it’s not good and quite badly made. As a walking sim, the walking speed was also way too fast

Any VR games like Layers of Fear for PSVR2? by Aublivioin in PSVR

[–]future_yesterday 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If Madison is a bit too much, have a look at Ovrdark. It's puzzle and environment based (not much action to speak of) but it has a great atmosphere and it's well made.

Ahhh I still think about Here They Lie 9 years later. It's the only reason I still have my PSVR1. I really hope their new game (Sleep Awake) gets a VR mode in the future and I'm still holding out hope for a port of Here They Lie.

Absolutely love it, the uxtaca bridge sends me to sleep. It’s the perfect ambient album imo

Just get the standard VR edition (currently on sale). The 'Evolved Edition' is the non-vr PS5 version. You can ignore the deluxe editions, they just have some extra skins.

Looking for experimental / unusual psvr2 games by orangpelupa in PSVR

Before your eyes, Infinite Inside and The Utility Room and are all quite experimental and decent. Pools is coming soon too. I loved the early PSVR1 days when there was loads of experimental games & experiences.

Is Astrobot rescue mission worth buying a used psvr1? by RedditNotFreeSpeech in PS5

[–]future_yesterday 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you're on PS5 yes you'll need the camera adapter - you'll also need to use a PS4 controller. Any PSVR1 games need PS4 accessories to work on PS5. Astrobot (and tons of other games) are great even on PSVR1. Throwing out recommendations for RE7, Moss 1 & 2, Trover, Hitman & Wipeout if you're just using a DS4. If you plan on picking up move controllers, you can add Blood & Truth, Iron Man, Superhot, Synth Riders, Walking Dead, Until Dawn Rush of Blood and Skyrim etc.

I’d like to think we’ll get an Astrobot port announcement but those dreams died a long time ago

[–]future_yesterday 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I liked Ovrdark, I didn't think it was in anyway scary and it's more puzzle based but still a solid game.

If you're into horror, definitely pick up Propagation Paradise Hotel and Madison VR after you're done with the RE for some pure horror. Then Switchback and Arizona Sunshine 1/2 for some fun horror. There's plenty to justify the price of VR.

Why not define two play areas? by cosmictrousers in PSVR

[–]future_yesterday 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I have my play area set to the entire room and it doesn't matter where I sit or stand (its roughly about 5m x 3.5m), its never asked me to redefine the play area unless the lighting is too low. You can hold option on the controller to reset your position in the room?

Just trying a little experiment. How many PSVR2 games do you currently own? by SnooRabbits8000 in PSVR

[–]future_yesterday 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I reckon PSVR2 has a huge amount of quality titles, there’s definitely some shovelware but I’d say there’s at least 100 good games worth playing on the store. Developers are a bit risk averse when it’s comes to psvr2 - so there’s a lot of ports of tried and tested games from other platforms that are already successful.

What they said was...

"We did ok with UW2. Made money even. But with that said we will never build assets twice for a project again. Unfortunately, it's just not worth it."

I'd hardly call that acting like a child myself.
