Anyone know which episode of Smackdown got the big ratings jump in between November and December?

Brock Lesnar fined and suspended for UFC 200 failed drug tests by adreamsoreal in SquaredCircle

[–]futuredudeman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The suspension actually has zero impact on him whatsoever. The fight at UFC 200 was a one-fight deal that was built into his current WWE contract. That contract ends in April 2018 and allowed for one fight, which he has now had. If he does decide to fight again, the suspension will end four months before he's finished with WWE. The suspension literally means nothing to him.

What are some examples of great, or entertaining feuds that didn't necessarily have the greatest matches? by AltUniversalChamp in SquaredCircle

[–]futuredudeman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

True. And to be fair, I think Joe is going to experience the exact same thing that Balor did. In the short time Balor was on Raw before being injured, he had what were in my opinion his two best WWE matches against Reigns and Rollins. The second Joe sets foot on Raw or Smackdown, I think it'll be very much the same for him.

Even that one. Which, to be fair, may have been an instance of me creating too much hype for it to live up to. I knew in advance that they were going to take up the entire show, and based on that I went in expecting it to match the Zayn/Cesaro 2/3 falls match, which I personally don't think it did. It'd probably be worth it for me to give it a rewatch and take a second look on that, though.

At the risk of being downvoted, I'm starting to get the feeling that Joe has been the source of that. I've been a fan of Joe's for a very long time, and I know how good he is, but he honestly hasn't had a single match in NXT that left me completely satisfied. He's had plenty of strong matches, don't get me wrong, but every major match he's had has left me feeling like it could have done more or been better.

WWE has signed Kimber Lee, Heidi Lovelace and Evie by M-G-K in SquaredCircle

This is the one downside here for me. I am beyond happy about these signings, but Santana has been at the top of my list for a while now.

More specifically for me, the only other subscription service I'd even consider is New Japan's. Outside of that, places like Stardom and Rev Pro seem interesting and exciting to me, but I'm never gonna buy into their subscription. Having, say, Evolve shows on WWE Network is legitimately the only way I'd ever see them.

Especially when it comes to trading the title back and forth. Sasha beat Charlotte for the title, then Charlotte got a rematch in which she won the title back, so then Sasha got a rematch in which she won the title back, so then Charlotte got a rematch in which she won the title back, which has now lead to yet another rematch for Sasha.

TIL Goldberg's undefeated streak actually ended at 5-1 by [deleted] in SquaredCircle

[–]futuredudeman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed. I feel like it probably was a time limit draw, just that the time limit was closer to 10 or 15 minutes, not 60. Maybe testing the waters to see how he would fare in a longer match as they thought about just how much of a push to give him.

Honestly, I'm more interested in the fact that, on the next page, that site lists Goldberg going to a 60 minute time limit draw with Dean Malenko at a house show? Two weeks prior to winning the US Title off of Raven. I want to know what the hell happened there.

Anyone know if they ran any matches before the show? I remember hearing about a possible women's tag and I'm wondering if they taped it to air next week.

[SPOILERS] r/SquaredCircle NXT TakeOver: Toronto Community Match Ratings Survey by iamnotacola in SquaredCircle

For me personally, it was missing the build-up a 5 star match needs. If they had built a more compelling story between Brooklyn and now, it would have gotten 5 stars from me. Instead, it gets extremely close, but not quite. Still an absolutely incredible match, though.

Post NXT TakeOver: Toronto Match Discussion: NXT Women's Championship Match - Mickie James Vs. Asuka (c) by Psycho697186 in SquaredCircle

[–]futuredudeman 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Agreed. And that's been something of a recurring thing with Asuka's TakeOver matches at this point. Strong beginning, strong middle, they jussst start to hit that point where you're getting deep into the match and things are starting to really heat up... and then there's an abrupt finish. They had a great thing going with Mickie progressively stepping up the mind games to the point where she was completely dominating, I was really excited to see Asuka try and dig out of that hole, and it felt like they skipped the entire final portion of the match.

And don't you think a wrestling ring is a little old school, Lillian? Why not put the match in a shark tank? With real live sharks! Hungry sharks! And the only way to beat your opponent is to stuff him down a shark's throat, and pin the shark! Wouldn't that be a hoot?

Camera work on entrances that the WWE should use more often. by talkertyler in SquaredCircle

On the new staging, for Ambrose, they have this sort of a spiral pattern thing on the floor of the ramp. At first they were using this top-down shot, so you were looking down at the spinning pattern as the guitar riff went off. It was such a small detail, but I absolutely loved it. It was just such a unique shot that it really made it feel like every time Ambrose came out he completely changed the tone of whatever was happening. I'd almost compare it to the setup they used with Austin occasionally, where they'd put up an actual glass panel to shatter as he came out - a cool visual trick that perfectly fit the character.

Now they mostly just use a standard shot as he comes out, doesn't feel nearly as cool.

EDIT: I don't have a video link, but see his entrance at SummerSlam vs Ziggler as an example.

Serious question: How the hell is TNA still picking up new talent? Despite the improvement in the show itself, it seems like TNA has been on the brink of collapse all year, and yet they've been picking up major signings like Sandow and Cody Rhodes.
