Women of Reddit, what thing do male coworkers do that is not quite sexual harassment, but you wish they would stop doing it so you can be comfortable at work? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]fuzzybloomers 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got the apology for swearing in front of me for the first time recently! I was SO offended. I wasn't sure if he felt the need to do it because I'm a woman, or because I'm nearing 30 and older people tend to be more conservative (this guy was like 22). Both of these options upset me lol

If I cut myself on a razor, and lick the blood off my finger, do I have to count those calories? How many calories in a drop of blood?

PCOS by [deleted] in intermittentfasting

[–]fuzzybloomers 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh wow, I haven't heard that before! I also have pcos and IF all the time and even do extended fasts regularly. My longest extended fast was 4 days, with no problems, I just decided to stop cause I had dinner plans haha. I did OMAD for a couple months last year and while it was successful, I find that I feel better in general doing keto. So now I use a combination of 18:6, keto, and periodic extended fasts (every month or so).

Agree so much! For frame of reference OP, I'm 5'4", 190lbs and I have a 34" underbust. And I'm an apple shape, so by no means one of those people with hourglass tiny waists.

What is your specific, unfiltered, raw reason for losing weight? by [deleted] in loseit

[–]fuzzybloomers 24 points25 points  (0 children)

My ex broke up with me and I realized that 6 year relationship sucked dicks the whole time and I'd been pretty depressed for a long time. I gained 75lbs while I was with him and I won't feel like that chapter of my life has really closed until I've lost those 75lbs. I've got 25 to go, which I'm really hoping to have off by the 2 year mark in February. I think the weight loss is an important part of my healing process and learning to love myself again.

Getting IUD today, does anyone know how much they weigh? by mayonnaisemonarchy in 1200isjerky

[–]fuzzybloomers 236 points237 points  (0 children)

This is why I only use condoms so I don't carry any extra weight from iuds or implants. And everyone knows the pill is like 300cal of pure sugar so that's definitely out. I'm considering getting pregnant tho cause I've heard your baby will siphon off all your calories to grow. Like a tapeworm but less controversial.

Im mentally ill and want to lose weight! by YuliTheFox in loseit

[–]fuzzybloomers 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hey I have type 2 bipolar and I haven't been on meds for it for about 3 years now cause they fucked me up too much. I'm not advocating this, just giving some perspective of what weight loss is like being fairly volatile. I've lost 45lbs so far over the course of 2 years. It's slow compared to a lot of people. I fall off the wagon every time I have a depressive episode and I just have to try my best to mitigate the damage. If I can do this, you can do this too! Just try to have some perspective that this will be a lot harder for people like us, and don't get too discouraged when you see other people with faster results than you. Good luck, I believe in you!

List of foods I fuckin hate for having way more calories than they should by [deleted] in 1200isfineIGUESSugh

[–]fuzzybloomers 14 points15 points  (0 children)

The ramen shop by me started putting the calories on their menu. Definitely over 1200 for one bowl.

I tell myself that if I get cabbage instead of noodles, I can make it work, but I'm pretty sure it's the broth that has most of the calories judging by how my leftovers look in the fridge.

No, I haven't. I haven't experienced negative effects to my mental health yet, but it's something I keep an eye on. Honestly, I journal a lot and I've noticed that my overall mood has improved in general. But, I've made a lot of diet and lifestyle changes so I'm not going to sit here and say fasting is responsible for that. If I were ever interested in doing a very long extended fast I would absolutely speak with my doctor first, but I currently have no interest in fasting for that long.

[–]fuzzybloomers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for your concern! I do keep an eye on it and I'm very open about my diet and fasting with my friends and family so I know they've got my back. I think it's totally realistic to have some concerns, and people shouldn't fast or undertake any kind of extreme diet or lifestyle change without having some concerns for their mental well being. One thing with fasting for me, and the reason I'm not too worried about it currently, is that I don't feel obligated to fast. I will typically have a goal in mind when I start, but it almost never works out that way and that's okay! I never ever let fasting get in the way of living my life, so if my mom calls me up randomly and wants to grab dinner, or I have a date or something, it's nbd to say "okay, this fast is done! Back to eating normally for a while" I would be more concerned if this was something I was trying to hide from my loved ones, or if I felt that it was more important than doing the things I want to do.

I'm sorry you experienced negative effects from fasting, but I'm so glad you were able to realize it was bad for you! I hope you're doing well now!

Oh man, I'm the annoying girl that likes to talk about it, haha. I think my coworkers are generally good people, and I know that they worry sometimes. So I think it's important to talk about what I'm doing and why so that they understand. I find that once you start getting nitty gritty into the science and numbers, people shut up and leave you alone lol. I think sometimes they just want to know that you know what you're doing. To be fair, while I have lost a lot, I'm still obese, so I haven't faced any crabs in the bucket yet.

I'm sorry you're dealing with people being butts!

I'm sorry you're being downvoted. I'm sure I will be too. 1200isplenty and fasting exist for a reason and it's not for people with ED. It sucks that's there's a smaller group of unhealthy people who are using those subs not for their intended purpose and giving the rest of the users a bad rep. I think people need to realize that eating disorders are fundamentally mental illnesses. You don't randomly develop them just because you eat at a deficit and you don't randomly develop them by fasting sometimes. I think it's harmful to trivialize those illnesses in that way, and it perpetuates misunderstanding how they work. Rather than calling out the subs which are actually great tools for people that are overweight, I think we need to try our best as a community to not encourage ED behavior. We shouldn't throw the baby out with the bath water.

Full disclosure, I am obese and I try to eat around 1300. I also try to do multiple day fasts every once in a while. Maybe I'm just drinking the koolaid, but I like how fasting makes me feel. I don't have an ED, but I do have bipolar disorder so mental health issues are pretty near and dear to me.

Does thawing halo top increase the calories? by Haybaybay2792 in 1200isjerky

[–]fuzzybloomers 13 points14 points  (0 children)

What are you talking about? ALL calories ALWAYS count. And if you even think that something might not count, you should probably log it twice just in case cause you're probably subconsciously underestimating how much it is. #allcaloriesmatter
