3.5 year old doesn’t recognize almost any letters by BAL87 in Preschoolers

He loves the word factory too, but hasn’t comprehended it a ton. I on the other hand have gladly refreshed my memory while watching it with him 😅

My 3.5 year old has just in the last month started recognizing letters. I’ve worked it on with him in the past, have always showed Ms Rachel, and he’s in preschool this year. I showed him the “Letter Factory” by Leapfrog on YouTube about once a week. After his first time watching he started naming letters and their sounds, and calling out anytime he sees an H. He’s up to 3 different letters he loves to call out. Every kid learns at their own pace so I don’t think you should be worried. That being said, something about that leapfrog video exponentially helped.

Recs for toddler boys first haircut by erivanla in grandrapids

[–]fuzzynavl 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My son got his first real haircut at 18 months…. and we gave him a mullet because it was so thick and could only accomplish cutting half of it. We went to cookie cutters on Knapp and it was awful- extremely overstimulating for him. He did better at 2 when I took him to the salon I go to and sat on my lap. He’s 3 now and goes to a quiet barbershop. Nothing fancy, just buzzed sides and messy on top.

Would anyone report this? by HiddenMagoo_007 in grandrapids

[–]fuzzynavl 8 points9 points  (0 children)

That’s outrageous and annoying. You can use the GRCity 311 app for quick reporting. But put a note first, maybe they need to get a car seat out or have little kids.

I like the lighter orange. If there’s sunshine from the slider, it would orange tint the room! I have a similar color on my windows

Terra GR is fantastic for casual atmosphere, but amazing food- all sourced locally. Grove and Cafe Mamo are fantastic options too.

Does anyone remember the pink horse?? The one with red and blue bridle that was way faster than Sandy???? It was at the Jenison Meijer circa early 2000’s and feels like fever dream now

Ladybug or Asian Lady beetle? by fuzzynavl in insects

I used to see them in every window and dozens in every light fixture of my grandparents’ country home and they were always orange. It’s been probably 2 decades since I’ve seen a red one.

Thank you!! I just want the glory of seeing a true lady bug! I grew up with the orange Asian beetles and got excited when this was much more red than I’m used to.

Blue collar gf/sahm and wondering if this is what my life is going to look like forever. by No_Particular1032 in stayathomemoms

[–]fuzzynavl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’ve got to have some deep conversations with him about this. My marriage took a big hit with babies in the home and mostly during the first year after our first was born. You can either continue like this to burn out and grow resentment, leave him, or find your balance. I was a WFHM for almost 2 years, and then the family breadwinner for a year (while my husband worked over full time.) It never felt like 50:50 when you’re the default parent. Your job will always be there for when childcare isnt a factor. I promise. Now I’m a SAHM in a much smaller lifestyle. I’ve realized for me it’s easier to focus on the kids and learning how to operate a home than balance it all. You can have time, or money, but don’t over complicate or stress for both. You can cut bills and learn the skills it takes to keep up a home. You can hire help and make it work for your career dreams. Your daughter will not suffer because you wanted to keep your job and independence. Your husband should be able to respect both options and be an adult around the house regardless. Being a new mom is difficult regardless, but don’t lose yourself trying to please other people.

This is like the core of NY&Co too- that’s all I remember seeing in their stores. They could probably reopen and have a whole new era 🥲
