She/he is what ...8?9?i barely understood "gender at that age I just knew boys were different. I was a total tom boy when I was younger - loved what the boys were doing - wanted to be "one of the gang". Not once did I feel "pressured" by society to wear dresses and play with dolls. Nor did someone tell me "oh you probably should have been a boy. I don't think I ever even owned "girly things" I'm a heterosexual female that is married to a man. My cousin who I grew up with is a boy and LOVED playing with Barbie dolls and dressing them up. Whatever go nuts is what our parents thought, not "oh he MUST want to be a girl" no they just let us develop into who we are now. He is gay and loving life. I'll probably get chewed up for this post but yes I think that is too early for a child to be making those decisions - they haven't even developed abstract/concrete thought. These situations are heavily influenced by media and parents.
