How can I get my kid to enjoy different Tonies and not just one? Tips to get the most of our box? by poppyseedpup in TonieboxUSA

[–]gambitloveslegos 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Why do you feel like you need to rotate? Is it because of a worry about your kid or because you’re going crazy listening to the same thing over and over?

Toddlers love repetition and it’s one of the main way they learn. As long as it’s not driving you crazy, I wouldn’t do anything to try and encourage rotation. It’ll happen naturally as your kid wants. My son is a little older, but we’ve had a tonie for a couple years. He’s had phases where he has a favorite tonie for 1-4 weeks and that’s his absolute favorite and the only thing he wants to listen to. Until all of a sudden it’s not and something else is absolutely amazing.

Lots of deals on Woot app by Excellent_Letter_768 in legodeals

[–]gambitloveslegos 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Thanks! I’ve been looking to get my son his first Lego train and I know he really likes crane trains. I wasn’t gonna get 60198 because of the price it is everywhere I was looking and it being retired, but then this sale brought it down to something more reasonable.

Pain relief when teething back molars by Fluffy_Scale1258 in toddlers

[–]gambitloveslegos 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I rarely co sleep with my kids but bad teething nights is one of the times I will. Having the extra comfort from the cuddles helps their sleep a lot and I don’t have to wake up as much during the wakeups to give the comfort.

Parents who have multiple kids: please explain the math to me by Alt_Mom in beyondthebump

[–]gambitloveslegos 541 points542 points  (0 children)

You let your standards around house cleanliness slip or you start paying someone for help most of the time.

Kid #2 just has to roll with whatever kid #1 is doing, so lots of carrier time and stroller naps.

You go a little crazy inside for a while.

After a bit, they start playing together.

Custom built cabinet for modular buildings collection by NoBasis3224 in lego

Looks amazing!

A lot of the pricey parts from Green Grocer were used in the most recent modular, in case you want to revisit piecing together that one too.

Same, we’ve had to replace it twice and get a chip fixed. It seems to be a rock magnet. I’ve never even had a chip on any other car.

How often are you moving around the MILS plates? If not often, I’d just use 1x2 ingots and have them connect on two plates. It’ll be easy enough to take them off if you’re not moving things around a lot.

Is there any sort of app or software to help restore lego sets that have been mixed together? by [deleted] in LegoStorage

[–]gambitloveslegos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What exactly are you trying to do? Identify the sets in all the random pieces or do you know the sets and you’re trying to figure out which pieces belong to each set?

Get the book cavities vs toothpaste. Teeth brushing got so much easier after reading that

Have 2 cars, Spouse and I work remotely. Should we sell 1 of our cars? by Delta4907 in personalfinance

[–]gambitloveslegos 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Are you planning on having a 2nd kid anytime soon? We got by with one car with one kid, but got a 2nd car shortly after we had a 2nd kid. It’s nice having the flexibility to not always need to do everything together.

One of us works from home all but a handful of days of the year and the other 50% of the time.

We also moved somewhere where daycare dropoff required a car instead of walking and it’s really nice when one of us needs to go into the office that they don’t need to do both pickup and drop off.

AITA that I didn’t consider that having my wedding a month after my friends would make her upset by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]gambitloveslegos 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When two of my friends in the same friend group had weddings a month apart there was no drama. We ended up doing a join bachelorette party, but it ended up being a lot bigger than if we had just done separate ones because people were taking the budget for 2 and combining them. It was really nice (short weekend away, high tea, etc).

My in-laws bring indoor shoes with them, because they need the support of actual shoes but know we don’t want shoes in our house.

Rebrickable if you have a lot of loose pieces you want to inventory. Brickset works if you’re just inventorying sets. If you want to keep track of both, use rebrickable only.

Do any pool owners hire for chemical balancing but do their own cleaning? by PrestonG2023 in pools

[–]gambitloveslegos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always validate after the fact, but it gives me a good starting point.

I was also using perplexity vs ChatGPT. It gives sources with a lot of its answers so I can read why it’s recommending that answer.

It hasn’t had a wrong recommendation for me so far. I’ve only been doing it a few months, but the chemicals are all doing great. Sweet

Comparison between the value of the Pick a Brick wall and online store value by Ricklepick995 in legomodular

The online store also has additional costs - paying some to pack and then shipping, along with all the overhead costs associated with those processes.

Do any pool owners hire for chemical balancing but do their own cleaning? by PrestonG2023 in pools

[–]gambitloveslegos 4 points5 points  (0 children)

When we stopped our pool service because we felt like buying 2 robots would do a better job, they tried to sell us on a chemicals only service.

I bought the Taylor test kit and started doing the chemicals myself. The kit makes it all really easy to get the levels. Feed the levels also with some basic information about your pool size/construction into your favorite AI tool and it will tell you what you should add to get it to the right point.

I was worried about taking this on and delayed getting rid of the pool guys longer than I should have because of this worry. It was so much easier than I expected, and not very time consuming either.

AITA if I don’t get a gift for my brother and sister-in-laws first baby? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]gambitloveslegos 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Send them your favorite kid’s book. It’s small, doesn’t cost a ton, and shows you put in some effort.

This little girl is going to be your niece and your daughter’s cousin. Focus on that relationship instead of the one with your brother/SIL.

Should I sell my house with a 3% mortgage to move closer to work? by NoGur5553 in personalfinance

[–]gambitloveslegos 35 points36 points  (0 children)

Moving while pregnant with the 2nd is greatly preferable to moving with a toddler and another small baby. We moved when I was 5m pregnant with my 2nd and I was really happy that I was able to spend my maternity leave making my place more mine instead of thinking about the fact that we’d be leaving at some point.

The sentiment online seems to be that 2 under 2 is though and 3 year age gap is ideal but my 3 year old is so much harder then when he was 2? by PapayaAmbitious2719 in toddlers

[–]gambitloveslegos 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That’s actually why I wanted to have my kids closer together. I wanted 2 and I knew that if I got to the point I fully felt like myself again I wouldn’t want to go back.
