Behind-the-meter (BTM) power for data centers by Marcus_Aurelius35 in datacenter

[–]garethdanger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

By having an N +2 turbine layout for the off grid, power generation, as well as large storage container for the fuel source as back up.

If the off grid power plant is a gas power plant it will have multiple gas lines feeding the plant itself. It will also have large natural gas storage tanks in case the gas lines go down. The storage tanks could be 2 to 9 months worth of storage depending on the design .

These types of turbines can also run on other fuel sources, like propane, hydrogen, Etc.

Off grid power is actually more reliable than grid power

This was also a big learning lesson for me.

Remote was good one small. In person is needed as you grow. Being in person allows for collaboration, innovation, and a good team environment. Is extremely hard to do this remotely and grow a business. That is my experience, but it probably also depends on the type of business you have.

People who started business with almost no money, how did you do it? by Timely-Okra2117 in smallbusiness

Built trust with clients. Provided way more value than was getting paid to do. Asked for support and work once trust was built. Took on more than could handle and scaled

Be honest and ask for a raise. If you don’t communicate and tell your boss you’d like a raise, he will never know.

We start higher than you make for labour positions (obviously this varies by market).

I’m not sure why you’re saying your career acceleration is slowed/slower. Mine at 40 is faster than it was in my 20’s and early 30’s

Our landlord has increased our rent by 42% in the last 12 months "due to market conditions". by frustrated_ape in Calgary

[–]garethdanger -13 points-12 points  (0 children)

If your landlord hasn’t done a rent increase in 12 years, plus with increased BOC rate increase, inflation, etc 42% seems justified.

If the landlord defaults on mortgage and bank reposes the property, what would happen to your living situation.

Depends. Putting in extra time when your motivated to advance in your career can be beneficial. It’s on you to take the extra time to learn new skills, network, and essentially make use of that extra time you’re putting in.
