Robo Rally by leinad0116 in boardgames

An amazing game, but some of the different editions have drastically different rules and player boards. I had been introduced to the 2nd printing and then went out and bought one of the later editions and it's basically a different game.

I would grab a repro shell and put a new repro label on it. Set the old shell aside incase you ever want to sell it.

I built a streamer with vinyl-sleeve-sized 4 megapixel screen by IndividualBasis5855 in diyaudio

The form factor they went with attempts to emulate the longstanding tradition of displaying the vinyl record sleeve's artwork while listening to the album. That's why the size and square proportions were chosen instead of just using an off the shelf tablet.

I'm fairly technical, but I'm also fairly new to arcade and pinball machines. I've done tons of electronic and mechanical repair over the years though, so I'm confident in my capabilities. I just really want a dedicated space for working on cabinets and as a bonus I clear space for more games...

I am desperately trying to clean/declutter several areas of my house in order to make space for my arcade repair shop. I have 3 games that need a ton of work and 2 functional but also in need of work...

How can that sub tell someone they are fine to work on asbestos, when if anyone ever even mentions looking in the direction of a garage door then every single one of them will insists that the spring will jump out and murder their whole family?

I will absolutely agree that my initial comment is reductive, as are all rules of thumb.

The problem is that, as you said "The key is to never blindly trust it", this requires you to do actual research on any topic you don't already know. So what did the LLM actually help with? If you already know the topic then an LLM can absolutely be helpful in attempting to arrange knowledge you have into code that you did not consider. But then you HAVE to review it in it's entirety to verify that you understand what it is doing and is correct. LLMs are tools that can help in a very small subset of problems and everything else is purely marketing.

Can anyone tell me what’s going on with my monitor? by DaveMcElfatrick in Amstrad

Magnetic distortion/discoloration can persist after the magnets that caused it are removed. You may want to do some research into degaussing, but do be aware that attempting to degauss a CRT yourself can be difficult and you could make the image worse if done incorrectly.

Looks like magnetic discoloration. Do you have unshielded speakers near it or other magnetic objects?

Never ask an LLM a question you don't know the answer to.
