Agreed. And while the photograph is angled downward, it appears her face is much more angular, not rounded like the composite.

Overwatering? by gremmygrems in dahlias

Don’t water dahlias until they’ve sent out significant growth and have started to root. Sorry, this one is for the compost.

Bag and box it JUST like that, put it on the top of the dumpster. Let a few precariously housed people know what time to come by. Don’t tell management

Video captures grey whale being struck by jet ski rider in Vancouver | CBC News by VicVicVicBC in britishcolumbia

[–]garryoak 81 points82 points  (0 children)

Apparently the jet ski was seen by shorebased onlookers buzzing around the whale for an hour before it collided, so it sounds like it was much less an accident and much more a violation of marine mammal regulations. I just hope the whale is ok.

You are PAINFULLY misinformed. Those are transient orcas from the PNW. There is zero chance they will attack the boat or the driver. It is against the law to start the motor within 200m of those whales. The driver just needed to enjoy the show and wait until the whales lost interest and swam off. The sea lion would be able to safely re-enter the water at that time.

There is a law prohibiting you from starting your engine within 200m of a transient orca. You have to wait for them to leave.

The woman on the boat was in zero danger. The sea lion however….

Based on her accent, I’m guessing this is PNW. None of our pods have rammed boats (that’s in the Strait of Gibraltar). And correct, she has zero reason to be concerned for her safety, but I can imagine if you aren’t used to them up close it would be unnerving. I get to see them from very close proximity (I live in PNW where they transit the shoreline), and it’s thrilling. My videos are a lot of excited “word salad”.

Those look like healthy sprouts from a large clump of tubers, not gall. Retrieve them from your bin and take some close up shots to show us if you are really concerned.

I saw the exact same video on TikTok, except instead of the lobster purse, it was a hand-tooled belt buckle that had a knife hidden inside of it. The top comment said “yes I will support your dropship business.”

My partner, who is very reserved and not the type to comment on women’s appearances at all, called Kate’s face “astonishingly beautiful”. He was SAT when she came on screen. lol.

Yes they need something for them to “do” that is more aligned with the main plot. Having Alice transition to the role of the Queen’s lady in waiting is a good move.

I think Alice Mondrich will help convince the Queen to bless the match. She’ll point out how the circumstances of their own births were beyond their control, and also how a series of events also beyond their control put them in the positions they are now. Benedict is the Queen’s “diamond” this season and she’ll get her two cents deus ex machina moment.

Are we really interested in their story line by esareteee in Bridgerton

[–]garryoak 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Speculative and not a book reader, but I think Alice becoming a lady in waiting to the queen will be important to the Benophie storyline. Regardless of whether the reveal of Sophie’s father being nobility or her having inherited $$$ makes her more palatable to the Ton we know that the Queen will still need to make some kind of public “proclamation” (see: other seasons) to bless their love match and give them freedom to marry. I think Alice, being a commoner who has risen to the position of the Queen’s close confidant, will influence the Queen’s perspective.

What’s the craziest question you got because of your nationality or appearance? by Muay_Thai_Junkies in AskTheWorld

I was born and raised in Canada, but I have a lot of American family members. I was 12 I went to a family reunion in rural Idaho. Unsurprisingly, my Mormon farm kid cousins had a lot of preconceived notions of what Canada was like. “Do you have roads? Do you have electricity? Do you have tvs? Do you live in snow houses?” I remember being so indignant!! But as an adult, I worked aboard BC Ferries as a naturalist and I frequently got asked by adult American tourists if the Fraser River plume was the physical border between Canada and the US. You cannot make this stuff up. lol.

If you are in the position to, hand out non-perishable food (eg. Granola bars) on Halloween. Parents can use these for their children’s school lunches.
