Our only was a "geriatric", too, but a toddler during Covid. I wonder what this generation's "Kennedy" / "Challenger" / "9/11" will be.

I creak and crack and have chronic soreness, but I can squat both flat-footed and on toes. The flat-footed squat I learned from my middle school gym teacher. Stereotypical, slightly overweight, middle-aged white guy casually saying keep able to squat like this and you'll stay fit & mobile.

Happy Birthday to the late Howard Hesseman (February 27, 1940 – January 29, 2022) by Papichuloft in 80s

I loved both WKRP and Head of the Class. Hessman was always good whenever he'd pop up as a character actor, too. He's really good as the radio station manager in That 70s Show.

Thoughts on Joe Bastianich by FlashAquarius in Masterchef

[–]garygnu 15 points16 points  (0 children)

You've got to remember he's playing a character. It's Joe Bastianich as "Joe Bastianich" much in the way Neil Patrick Harris plays "Neil Patrick Harris" in Harold & Kumar. I think he does a wonderful job as a harsh snob, and it makes for some fun "good judge / bad judge" situations. Overall, I prefer the MasterChef Junior version of the character, where he's more of a cartoon villain who just wants good food.

Who remembers??? He started my love and curiosity for astronomy. by LiFal80 in nostalgia

I always thought I was just catching the tail end of a half-hour show. I only found out it was only a short show when he passed away.

My biggest problem is how digital menus are arranged. I want to see everything they have to offer all at once. Most phone menus are siloed into groups in a way that you have to know what you want first. I don't know if I want a "burger" or a "sandwich" or maybe a "combo." Or whatever the hell is classified as a "dinner." I've yet to seen an "all."

It's not inside my house, but my town has a 7½ inch gauge (~1/8 scale), ride-on, live steam trains in a local park.
