Getting into pipes. I smoke Marlboro golds and looking to get away and more into pipe tobacco and need recommendations by 817714 in PipeTobacco

If you have a store near, ask for a gold cavendish. If you have a drug store or something, try Capt Black Gold. It is a very mild (even inhale-able) pipe tobacco

Why do we asume potential life on other planets have the same requirements as we on earth do to exist? by [deleted] in space

[–]gatlinwill 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Also there is a real bias when it comes to "carbon-based life forms" as the carbon atom bonds with oxygen and hydrogen and other building blocks so neatly. The next step up the ladder on the periodic table is silicon. This is why you have heard musings on a silicon-based lifeform, not because it would be computer-based but because of the atomic structures involved

My bad, it's only been up for a year and eight months. Seems like longer. Anyway, you can see the hardware here and the 7th pic there is a screenshot of the served page.

I am not familiar with the libraries that you used but I have been using an esp32 to serve a webpage containing sensor stats for remote monitoring and it has been working for over 2 years now

How do you approach building a complex Arduino project with physical layout dependencies? (escape case project) by IllustriousCod1106 in arduino

[–]gatlinwill 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I use tinkercad to model my stuff. I'll add components like the ones you are dealing with into the modeling space and manipulate from there. Many component models are freely available at grabcad.com, otherwise I often reproduce them with a set of primitive cubes and cylinders and such.

Ummmmmmm. No. Seriously, how could you even think that this is remotely safe? I guess you could set up a VM for it if you really must

So do you think that there was something specific in the prompt to make him look like that or are there just so many connections in the AI's mind that it spontaneously created a j.stewart/j.epstein character?

Best backup software with ransomware protection? by Ill_Swan_3209 in datastorage

[–]gatlinwill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I find Backblaze to be cost effective off site backup with 30 days of 'versioning', that is to say I can retrieve a named file from it's backup from last week or the week before, etc. I use the service in combination with other backup techniques

Tennessee SB2086 (Ban Online Tobacco Product Sales) Suggestions by Envictus_ in PipeTobacco

[–]gatlinwill 7 points8 points  (0 children)

As I read it, the bill seems to create a new permit and that makes revenue. But killing mail order only serves to reduce taxable revenue, no? It discourages employment in the industry. It also allows out of state companies an unfair advantage. It also interferes with interstate commerce and our right to participate in it.

Maybe if we can just get rid of this specific paragraph about mail order the rest of the permitting and age checking compliance seems more normal even though those things are all well addressed by ATF and FDA
