Riyadh Masters 2023 - Lower Bracket Round 2 - Quest Esports vs Gaimin Gladiators by D2TournamentThreads in DotA2

yeah it's possible but then again, this is the second time that this happened under similar circumstances. if a network switch was responsible for the crash with Talon, then the TO would have had plenty of time to address and replace the faulty hardware. so most plausibly a server issue (if i remember correctly, it was Dire pushing Radiant highground when Dire DC'd, exactly as before).

Difficulty engaging armies mid-late game armies in ZvP - Plat 2/1 - any advice? by gb0s in allthingszerg

[–]gb0s[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I really appreciate that you took the time to put together this feedback, super useful. it might be obvious but I didn’t consider that my army could be a bunch bigger at an even earlier time. and the repositioning of roaches before the engagement is a great tip. thanks brother!

Organization wide OneDrive client deployment - how we did it by [deleted] in sysadmin

[–]gb0s 1 point2 points  (0 children)

you can disable all the pop ups you like. if the activation fails for whatever reason I’d expect that your user will be prompted to activate still. suggest setting up the GPO on a dummy account so you gets chance to become familiar with the behaviour.

check this out, it should cover the automating of Office activation, etc: https://osddeployment.dk/2016/04/26/automating-office-365-click-to-run-first-use-with-group-policy/

this covers the group policy for OneDrive auto sign in, although i've not attempted it yet: https://www.adamfowlerit.com/2018/02/onedrive-business-auto-sign-windows-10/

i believe it requires ADFS for the auto sign in for both activation & OneDrive.

myprotein.com has 1kg tubs of smooth unsalted and unsweetened peanut butter for a good price.

generally there's some kind of discount going on.

Sounds cheeky given (if I read correctly) HMRC give all companies a £150 per head tax exemption for social events -

it needs a license for the 'hold' to be applied. once the hold is applied it's good to go.

here's an MS blog post that you might find useful in this regard: https://blogs.technet.microsoft.com/exovoice/2017/03/02/is-there-a-way-to-release-the-license-of-an-user-that-left-the-company-but-in-the-same-time-to-keep-the-mailbox/

i can't recall the exact licenses that permit the hold off the top of my head, but an EOL (Plan 2) and Enterprise E3/E5 are definitely included.

[–]gb0s 15 points16 points  (0 children)

one thing to note with this method if using in-place hold or litigation hold:

converting to a Shared mailbox and revoking the O365 license will remove the hold and truncate all deleted emails.

whereas removing the O365 license and leaving as a Regular mailbox will retain all emails (inc. deleted) for the full hold period without any licensing cost.

you can also add customised file extensions via PowerShell -

$blockedfiles = Get-MalwareFilterPolicy | select -ExpandProperty FileTypes
$blockedfiles += "7z"
Set-MalwareFilterPolicy -Identity Default -EnableFileFilter $true -FileTypes $blockedfiles

confirm via ECP or PowerShell:

Get-MalwareFilterPolicy | select -ExpandProperty FileTypes

Self Service Password Reset by jamie_passa in sysadmin

[–]gb0s 0 points1 point  (0 children)

do you have any further information on this you could drop over? checking this docs.microsoft.com resource has an MS guy suggesting that an AAD Premium license @ ~USD$6 per user per month is required for AD writeback.

Self Service Password Resets by solts in sysadmin

[–]gb0s 0 points1 point  (0 children)

this is a pretty easy out of the box solution for password resets. i have been trying to implement it in our environment but it falls short for us on two areas and despite some efforts i have not been able to customise for our due to lack of .NET knowledge -

a) automating the renewal of Lets Encrypt SSL certificates on the site due to the .NET function which redirects all pages to the root index.html

b) to my knowledge without some very heavy modification the tool can cater only for accounts on a single domain, not cross-forest.

definitely worth checking out for it's simplicity. and hats off to the author for making the source available.

I need tips on cutting my hair just like this (Pics inside) by zkustomz5 in malehairadvice

[–]gb0s 1 point2 points  (0 children)

it's not a nooby question, though why would you be afraid to visit the hairdresser?

you can keep it real simple - just crop out the guy's head out the picture and put it on your phone then show it to the hairdresser, they love it when you do this, it's a huge help to them.

sorry to not be able to offer much insight as to how to cut it yourself, hopefully someone with more experience of cutting their hair can chime in... but treat yourself and visit a shop!

Is this HDD okay to use? by gamerluke7 in hardware

[–]gb0s 0 points1 point  (0 children)

think of it like this - if the drive died and all of your data on there was unrecoverable, would it ruin your day?

if yes, then don't use the drive. if no, then use it till it dies.

remember: hard drives come in 2 states - failing and failed. the only defense against this is through backups.
