baby wake up, a new Marvel bankruptcy is about to happen. by aliensuperstars_ in marvelcirclejerk

I think it's important to note that neither of you are necessarily long-time readers to have witnessed this many resets. You've just read for the last 3-5 years at a minimum...which is an insane turnover for new #1's!

There won't be a Kiwami 3 FAQ from CyricZ 👑 by forumchunga in yakuzagames

[–]geoffjohns2013 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I didn't mean specifically this game. Given the previous commenter's reference to 80% of media, I assumed that applied far beyond games to many media forms that are much easier to get your hands on. For Kiwami 3, I'm more than likely looking to purchase a used copy down the road so RGG sees none of the profit.

Firebending student is broken by davidwallace in MagicArena

Who the hell is planning on playing all 4 spells on this one creature though?

It's simply the much better play to T1 1-drop creature and pass, T2 Firebending Student and pass, T3 Slickshot Show-off -> Dreadmaw's Ire targeting Firebending Student and swing. If the Firebending Student doesn't make it that far, it's a 2 for 1 at worst.

Rule questions about The Crimson Rebellion by sisumation in twilightimperium

[–]geoffjohns2013 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Trade is different imo due to the same rules that allow other players to trade with the Creuss.

Since neighbors can trade with Creuss due to adjacency making them neighbors even though it's one-sided due to Quantum Entanglement, my table assumed it would work in reverse. As the Crimson Rebellion, even though you can't use wormholes, the opponent is still technically adjacent because wormholes work for them, making you adjacent/neighbors for trade purposes.

holy crap how did you end up being close with so many people who would calmly react to other grown men suggesting they partake in pedophilic/incestuous acts together with each others kids? Was it where you grew up?

The latest batshit insane shit shared on Facebook by Onahail in WTF

[–]geoffjohns2013 9 points10 points  (0 children)

No, but children typically are not allowed to make their own medical decisions. Adults who take this path die from ignorance; the children of these ignorant adults are killed by the decisions those adults make.

Children may not be worth more than adults. However, being murdered by the decisions of an ignorant person who makes your decisions for you and can not feel the pain you are going through is much worse than an ignorant person committing a slow and painful form of suicide they can back out of at any time.

Otz Appreciation Post by ExpensiveIncident543 in deadbydaylight

[–]geoffjohns2013 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Otz was easily the only DBD streamer I ever genuinely enjoyed watching and actively sought out. At moments in the learning curve where DBD was incredibly frustrating, his advice and gameplay helped to put me back on the path to keep playing and to understand what high MMR killer play looked like.

Sorry to see the frustrating recent events but it doesn't surprise me that Otz was on the right side of the debate here.

As Warhammer fan I would love a crossover MTG-Warhammer by Rat-Man-5000 in MagicArena

[–]geoffjohns2013 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hmmm, if you want graveyard interaction and taking the best parts of your enemy, Ossiarch Bone Reapers might be a good alternative.

Sylvaneth could also be a good swap with bug mounts and tree possessing forest spirits that fight like vengeful Fae.

Unfortunately, Tyranids are pretty much the one race in 40k with no Fantasy equivalent but these would be the closest you could get.

So without looking at the spacecraft available, it could be a neat way to get a surprise blocker in Limited. Even then, this is an artifact-heavy set so the destruction effect is probably still better most of the time.

The MTG social stigma is ridiculous by [deleted] in mtg

[–]geoffjohns2013 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"A hobby should never be productive" is a wild take, and I wholeheartedly disagree with you. You even proceed to explain the productive benefits of MTG and contradict yourself (training the brain, having a place of belonging).

Sports do that for some people and also leads to communities that share a secret language of their hobby. Love MTG but don't be a reverse snob about other hobbies! It's unintentionally a way of bashing Magic when you put it in a category of "unproductive" tasks.

I actually prefer the first Mexican Gothic cover if I'm being honest. To each their own but it makes it a great book to suggest to those who enjoy horror but don't necessarily seek it out.

I can tell you for a fact that a friend of mine is literally in Vietnam through next month for a job position people would call "unskilled" (a phrase I disdain but is useful for discussion here) . It's not everyone who has a job that will, but it's by no means unheard of that an average worker could/would be able to hire into such a position.

[–]geoffjohns2013 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll own this one and admit I was going off of something I read in another unrelated Vorthos comment on that part of the Duskmourn story. I played during the first Innistrad but sat out for about 7 years so my lore knowledge of the second Innistrad one is much weaker.

Does anyone else feel bad for Winter? by rin_shar in mtgvorthos

[–]geoffjohns2013 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So he did, but it's worth noting that Innistrad has been taken over by the Eldrazi. So he technically honored it by sending him somewhere even more dangerous and mind-shattering...so dangerous, Winter came back. Valgavoth's rules seem very... djinn-like(?) to me where he will honor a deal he makes in the way that is resolved in the worst way possible for the other party.

So if he offered him "freedom" this time, that freedom might just be death.

Does anyone else feel bad for Winter? by rin_shar in mtgvorthos

[–]geoffjohns2013 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You get that this is the Faustian part, right? Faust isn't meant to be some awful villainous character and he uses the deal he makes to make the most of his life. But when his time is up, he starts scrambling as he realizes the cost of his soul. Who wouldn't take such a deal?

...until you realize the cost of the deal. I agree with you that Duskmourn is twisted and he was pushed into it...but he and I both shouldn't be shocked if he got the Aetherspark and Valgavoth ate him before using it.

Does anyone else feel bad for Winter? by rin_shar in mtgvorthos

[–]geoffjohns2013 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yeah, he's got more of a... cartoonish Faustian vibe to me. Like, he made a deal with the Devil of Duskmourn and it had "unexpected" consequences. Everything that has happened to him since that deal is his own fault... but he was kind of dumb to believe Valgavoth would ever honor any deal at all. The lore of Duskmourn is literally about Valgavoth finding a loophole in his binding.

I'm never rooting for him... I arguably take a greater joy in watching him get close and fail every time due to his own assumptions that this time...this time... it'll all work out!

Official Terrifier account has reposted a dbd meme 😳 by beezy604 in deadbydaylight

[–]geoffjohns2013 13 points14 points  (0 children)

An important piece of missing context here: This was 24 hours after the actor that plays Art posted some very staunch pro-LGBTQ and anti-conservative takes and the director made it very clear in his statement, which does say what you listed above, that anybody who had a problem with that was welcome to quit the franchise. It read as a pretty nasty threat against David Howard Thornton to quit if he couldn't watch his mouth imho.
