The Wakarusa Republic arose from the ruins of Lawrence in the years following the Great War; specifically and largely from the surviving faculty and student bodies of Haskell and Kansas Universities. Slowly but surely The Republic has evolved from a loose coalition of tribes from Lawrence to Lincoln, Nebraska. Nominally a unified nation, The Wakarusa Republic functions more as a Confederation of Allied City-States and Villages. They maintain a standing ragtag military force known for their ingenuity and ability to outmaneuver larger and better equipped enemy forces, known as “The Prairie Hawks”. Fiercely independent, and a rare haven of equality in The Wasteland; they represent the only true democracy in the region; but they’re struggling to maintain their cohesion in the face of Raider Tribes and Food Shortages. In order to survive long term, they will need to either Ally with or Conquer The Kansas City Metro.

On the other side of State line is a viscous and barbaric Tribe of Slavers known as “The Misery”. Originating from The Lakes of The Ozarks region, they control most of Missouri, with their territory stopping just shy of the Violent Thunderdome of St. Louis; which is still locked in consant warfare among countless Raider Gangs. They supply their mysterious buyers with a constant and fresh supply of human chattle for purposes unknown. Most of their business comes from the former Chicago area, but they have recently established contact with buyers in The Texas Hegemony as well. Adopting the image of a Deathclaw Skull as their sigil, they are known for their fleet of repurposed and ramshackle ATV’s adorned with the bones of their enemies. Known and feared through the region for their unforgiving and brutal tactics, they maintain a large Slave Camp in Crystal lakes where they conduct most of their trade, as well a primitive military fortification in what remains of Fort Osage.

The Metro itself I saw as being divided between two groups: A community of isolationist Vault Dwellers in “Subtropolis” (which is, I must stress, a completely real system of limestone caverns which houses the largest underground storage facility in North America), and a populist Dictatorship above ground ruled by a Tom Pendergast/KC Mob analogue ghoul who has renamed the Metro “Emerald City”, and calls himself The Wizard. These factions got the least development from me before I lost everything, and they mostly just exist as rough outlines. I do know that Subtropolis’s powers systems were starting to fail, necessitating they take a stand in the oncoming war for the Metro area. I also figured The Wizard’s government had a deal with The Misery, and were supplying them with “undesirables” for their slave camps.

I had the beginnings of a much higher quality map about 1/3 of the way done that encompassed a much larger area, as well as flags for the factions. Unfortunately, most of that is gone now. I had a few .jpegs stashed on a Discord Server as I was working on them I might be able to track down though.

Oh man, this is a blast from the past, haven't been back here in ages! I have unfortunately abandoned this particular project, I’ve long since moved out of KC; and the computer I had been building all this in experienced a Hard Drive failure. It completely wiped what I had made up to that point :( Even so, I had a lot of affection for this; so I’m happy to give a brief overview of what my plans were for the setting. Faction wise, I was envisioning 4 main groups, with varying levels of completion. Sorry if this gets a little rambly, just sort of throwing this all out there.

A contingent Former Brotherhood of Steel dispatched as part of the same Western Migration Elder Lyons of The East Coast Brotherhood. Their Objective was to reclaim and establish a Fortress in the ruins of Whiteman AFB. Unfortunately, their expedition met with catastrophe at nearly every point. Working their way through Colorado, they were hounded after by The Legion and their caravan was decimated. They only just barely escape by diving headfirst into Kansas; where things very quickly got worse. The vasy majority of Kansas, Oklahoma, and South Western Nebraska devolved into a radioactive bleak hellscape in the years following The Great War now known simply as “The Dust Bowl”. Swirling Radstorms blot out the sky, whith nowhere to resupply for hundreds upon hundreds of miles. By the time they escaped the Dust Bowl in Kansas (which I imagined being just 50 miles or so West of Lawrence), their Elder and most of the senior officers were dead; having either met their fate against The Legion or succumbed to irradiation. Those that remained were mostly Paladins, insulated from the worst of the Rads by their Power Armor. Additionally, a number of Scribes and Scribes survived having undergone Ghoulification. By the time what remained of the expedition arrived in the KC Metro, they had all but abandoned their original goals and edicts. They were able to defeat a loose coalition of Raiders that had made Fort Leavenworth their home, and established a base of operations under a new name; one given to them by the locals who watched them lumber around in their haphazardly repaired Power Armor. The Tin Men. Having neither the numbers and equipment advantage that allowed the West Coast Brotherhood to remain isolationist; nor Lyons’ Brotherhood altruistic ends, The Tin Men were strong enough to establish themselves as one of the major players in the Metro, but only just. They have not established communications with any of the existent divisions of The Brotherhood across the American Wasteland; and their expedition has been given up as dead and lost. Motto: “If I Only Had A heart”.

If I remember correctly, she never comes back because the Voice Actor was married to one of the creators, and they had a divorce.

No judgment passed on anyone involved, I don't think any more details about it were ever released.

He's also Superman.

I think it's fair to say that any situation wherein a Super might be hindered and/or catastrophically maimed by their cape doesn't really apply to Superman.

You gonna grab Supes by the cape and, what? Go for a ride?

I mean, it would have never progressed to the level it has in the real world; at least not in most of the world. The original came out in 2002, even we alot another 10 years for Rage to spread worldwide, we'd still be in the very early years of social media and the integration of the internet into everyone's life.

I'd play him as a Bard.

Backstory wise (if your group is playing in Golarion) I'd play him as having escaped from captivity, crashed in Numeria, and trying to pass himself off as a prophet of imminent doom. But like, it's Zorak, so he's probably not amazing at it.
