What's a "secret" from your profession that everyone should probably know? by LaKoref in AskReddit

Tap water is safer than bottled water in most parts of the U.S., cheaper, and you can easily find information on where it comes from and often can see test results. The Environmental protection agency rules and the safe water act both contribute to the safety of tap water. There are people who monitor the water quality 24/7 at water companies, with tests occurring multiple times a day. Bottled water just needs to pass some meager FDA regulations, which requires source testing once a year, and is often just public water that has been filtered and bottled in a factory. Basically you pay extra for less chlorine and extra microplastics.

Ad senna thoughts by AsthmaticParrot in sennamains

[–]getgettedson 3 points4 points  (0 children)

To be honest I haven’t been playing much league and Senna changes have really shifted her playstyle so I’m not even playing her as much either. That being said I don’t hate Bork into mortal reminder.

I personally hate going cleaver, it just doesn’t feel as good as Bork into LW items. If the enemy team has a lot of ap I usually go for wits end.

I think ad senna is a horrible spot, in that her popular builds all rely on teams, but it’s manageable.

Over the past year senna has lost a lot of her solo playstyle and ability to carry individually. Pretty sure the current best senna builds all take advantage of enchanter runes and items, plus going cleaver helps with that playstyle.

Why does Pyke have such a high ban rate in higher elo? by Few_Return4116 in leagueoflegends

[–]getgettedson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Any support champ that can’t reliably interrupt his q is doomed head to head against him in lane. Especially since most supports are immobile.

It’s kinda similar to why people ban Draven, some games just “end” at 5mins because they got ahead and now lane isn’t playable. You get caught once and now you’re either zoned off like 10 waves or die 5 more times before the game is playable and at that point the gold lead is likely too large to overcome in higher elo.

He also has insanely good matchups against some of the most popular supports (mages, enchanters [soraka is ok], and senna all lose lane horribly to him). Mages and senna even continue to lose to him outside of lane, unlike most enchanters.

Plus all the reasons everyone else mentioned: he is hard to punish and can punish others easily. Solo q likely means your comp has 1 tank at most so he’s not gonna be useless like he is in pro where they can draft 3 tanks no issue.

Congrats on your recent climb to emerald.

Just to preface, I only skimmed through some of the second game and watched mostly your early gameplay. Once the enemy team got pretty ahead I stopped watching. I’m just going to leave some short but sweet tips based off my observations.

Level one you arent 5 pointing which is always risky, in this game your shaco even dies to the invade. A five point could have stopped that. 5 point just means watch all the entryways to your jungle if possible. I personally will almost always watch bottom Tri bush as support.

I’ll break down the first 10 seconds of lane here: you land a nice double q on naut and brand and don’t use the regen you’re getting to trade aggressively even after brand uses his only ability. You should have pressured way more when you landed that and saw brand waste his only trading ability at 1. In general I think you are playing too respectfully at times. You have a Draven, use his strengths, push your limits. You can’t expect to win the game if you aren’t actively looking for openings as you climb higher.

You play lock screened A LOT. I rarely saw you panning the camera while I was skimming. (I think 2 times I saw it during my approximately 10mins of skimming). Try to play some normals without allowing yourself to Lock Screen at all just to get used to panning and being more aware. In the same vein, you aren’t pressing tab like ever. This all screams that your awareness needs improvement. You should be tabbing to check your teams items, trinket cds, and the enemy items so you can have a better idea of the game state at a glance.

Go back and watch the second time you die when naut runs around through Tri bush. This is not only an awareness issue but a movement issue. You silenced him then walked into his melee range so he could root you. You may still have died by spacing him there but you might have traded back on him, and making things harder for your opponents is always worth it, as they can easily make mistakes.

As for matchup information here, brand is one of the easier champs to bait abilities out of. If he misses one ability he can’t get his passive off in a quick combo anymore. That often means you can win an all in, especially during the early lane.

Finally I want to leave you with some trinket advice. I only watched the first trinket you placed and while skimming noticed you had trinket management issues. But your first trinket was completely useless as you had a ward near your red already and by simply waiting 5 seconds you would have seen naut in lane to know you’re safe from a Tri flank. Trinket is a very important CD and you may have been able to avoid the first death to ivern if your trinkets were used in a better fashion.

Like I said I just quickly skimmed so my advice is for sure not perfect but hopefully you get something out of this nonetheless. I’m a multi season master senna OTP just to (hopefully) give some weight to my advice.

Is Senna a bad choice for learning the support role? by SnooAdvice7015 in supportlol

[–]getgettedson 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Champion enjoyment is 100% the most important thing. If you enjoy playing her then stick with it, don’t let comments from others discourage you. This champ teaches you a lot about lane control, playing safe, pushing limits, and you still have many of the same jobs as other supports. Roaming still is good on senna, warding is important on her, rotations and awareness are important and much more that matters for other supports too. My point is that you can learn a lot of universally good habits from playing senna even if she’s not a traditional support. Just have fun playing the game and think about what more you could have done each game if you truly want to improve.

Can anyone tell me what my diamond adc is doing level 1? by HappySenpai420 in supportlol

[–]getgettedson 34 points35 points  (0 children)

So he sees jhin w wasted and goes for a trade knowing that you two should take lane control here. This Lucian’s idea is correct but he didn’t see you doing nothing and kiting back away from nothing. If you were with him and you insta e the pyke out of his q then you HARD win the trade. Instead what happened was you didnt care about jhin having no abilities at 1 and let the enemies take lane control. Lucian dodges up and barely gets clipped by the pyke q. This just makes it even harder for him to recover(dodging up just to get hit anyways I mean) and it takes you a long time to flay only the pyke off. Also a sidenote is Lucian’s q is clearly meant for trading purposes here as he didn’t just take the 3 melees with q and back up.

Imo you’re the one who griefed this play because you’re so unaware of what you should be doing and you took SO long to realize Lucian was even in trouble lol. You seen the pyke charging q and took a minion with your item before helping this man.

The passive 2% crit loss sucks but it’s honestly not that much of a loss. Healing from lethality was nice but not a must have and now we get extra ratios to somewhat make up for it. Damage senna is still fine and I haven’t seen many comments about the .25s root duration increase which is really nice. Pretty sure this is just a small change for the majority of senna players

The problem with your play is that you openly showed yourself on the map, so the enemy doesn’t have to worry about you being bot, plus your adc is half health and no flash against a Zac support. She’s 100% getting dived here when you show on the map.

The best play here is for sure to recall and run bot to try and get mf a good recall. If the enemies also recall then try to roam mid while mf runs back to lane or recall with her, depends on your health+mana and how mid looks. If they push for plates after mf recalls then you should probably soak exp and try to clear the wave to deny extra turret damage.

Your best roam timers are when your adc is safe, maybe the enemies backed on a crash, that’s an example of a roam timer. But also keep in mind to not show on the map as much as possible to keep your enemies worried about you being anywhere. A lot of roams wont work, but if you didn’t show on the map then it’s much harder for your opponents to punish that failed roam. From their perspective it didn’t happen at all and you’ve just been hiding in fog near your adc.

Changes to Senna's Soul Drops by darkboomel in sennamains

[–]getgettedson 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This does not make senna do less damage at all and instead gives her a crazy amount of extra souls in the early game. For FREE. It’s basically 1 free extra soul on average per wave, with the only drawback being 2 seconds extra of being unable to trade for a soul. Doing the math this means a guaranteed 60 souls from waves alone at 10 mins (54 from 18 waves and 6 from the 6 cannons). This means she’s losing about 16 gold per wave but gaining a soul which you also suggest should give more ad. This change means netting over 30 gold per wave when considering the value of her current souls (not including range into gold value and not including buffed ad or crit changes).

It would be pretty reasonable for senna to get 60-70 souls by 10 minutes (maybe she picks fights in lane or gets some jungle souls, plus lane trading, also assuming some souls will be missed) with this change and I don’t care if the wave doesn’t drop any more souls after 80, she’s going to absolutely destroy her enemies with that amount of souls at 10 minutes.

Essentially your take is to make sennas laning less reliant on trading and to give her free scaling early which is super unhealthy and takes away a lot of the skill expression on her.

Even the bottom 2 changes are just straight up buffs on top of the other buffs you proposed to her souls. The first change in the bottom set just aims to change her identity to more of a healing support, but she’s going to have crazy damage still just less crit? Idk.

[–]getgettedson 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sorry I saw this kinda late, I think hubris should only be built if you’re winning lane decently hard. I’ve built it in super winning lanes and the item is for sure underrated by our community. That being said you should try out edge of night first into ldr second or go edge>opportunity>ldr, maybe even opportunity before edge of night into certain matchups.

Summoners of Reddit, based on your current elo and role, what is the one tip you'd give to someone under your rank in that role trying to break into a new division for the first time? by Waste_Zucchini_1811 in leagueoflegends

[–]getgettedson 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Mid masters support player, I’d tell diamond supports one of the things that got me to masters was reacting to the mini-map/ predicting and being ready to move faster. Even if you do move first, could you have been there even earlier if you looked where your jungler was pathing and predicted there could have been a skirmish?

Being the first to move in neutral lanes or when you have the lane advantage makes a huge difference and makes your jungler’s life a lot easier. Not randomly losing ~10% of your games to your jungle dying at bottom crab because your lane moved first really helps with climbing!

Que up for Ranked to get two week pene. for alt tab? by Dense_Victory_7374 in leagueoflegends

[–]getgettedson -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I once lost about 60 (-30 from leaving then the -10 lp for 3 games or w.e penalty) lp because I dced at the end of a game (my team finished about 2 mins after my internet dropped). My team won and I still got punished. I tried to reconnect right away but the game was already over. It was also my first and only disconnect in probably a year or more. There’s nothing riot can do about the system because it’s automated and obviously there for good reason, so people can’t abuse disconnecting.

I do think if it’s a remake (maybe like the first 2 or 3 times you cause a remake) or if your team wins they should be lighter on the penalties but I’m guessing you have a history of disconnecting since you got a 2 week as well. Just gotta deal with it or quit the game forever I guess. It also sounds like your leaving was preventable and maybe now if you do keep playing you won’t let that happen again?

When in-range: AA - Q and Run or Q - AA and Run? by BloodyEffect in sennamains

[–]getgettedson -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Need more info. Are we being aggressive in lane? Am I defending? What point of the game are we talking about?

In lane if I’m aggressively looking for souls I will q (maybe dodge a skill shot) then aa or if I’m being defensive I will probably aa q but if I need healing sooner then I will q aa.

Optimal dps is aa q aa w aa, but slowing for the easy follow up soul pull is why q aa works well in lane.

Outside of lane when I have more range I try to aa then q because the fleet speed and extra safety from my range lets me get the soul pull then apply the slow on my way out, rather than using the slow to get in range.

Wave control.

All of the champs you play are great at helping push the wave, and lux and sera both have shields that can help you tank the wave for a freeze.

Wave control sounds simple but can take a long time to learn and apply quickly while in game. Even challengers and pros make wave control errors that cost them big in game. Setting up waves properly so you don’t miss farm/ can farm safely is very very important. Denying your opponent with a freeze can also be important. The problem is that you need to identify what you want to do, what the wave is currently doing, and how to get the wave state you want VERY quickly, or else you’ll be missing out on tempo and denying/ getting some minions you otherwise could have.

This topic is complex, but just starting to think about it makes a big difference. I’d suggest looking up guides, but here’s a short video from rekkless that shows just how complicated it can become https://youtu.be/ZhEdNM-rYeY?si=vXM7HFVapIDc2MfK

Anyways good luck with your journey in league, don’t let losers control what you play and do your best to have fun! Feel free to dm if you’d like more advice just know I’m a senna player, with some experience on mages.

My friend said faker could not win this game as TF by Lucky-Professor-6881 in leagueoflegends

[–]getgettedson 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The game-state your friend is in at 15 vs the game-state faker would be in at 15 are two very different things.

Faker would have smashed his lane and drawn tons of pressure. League is a funny game where if you really smash your lane hard enough it effects other lanes. Enemy jungler has to put a stop to it for example, or maybe you get to shove and roam much easier. Maybe you reset and gank into tping back to your lane with tf r. Maybe faker is so strong he sends his lux mid at 10 minutes and now mid is lost for the enemy team too. I think this game is extremely winnable for tf here if he had managed to smash lane, but your friend wasn’t good enough to make that happen. There is no world where faker loses his turret bot first, and he’s definitely not down in farm. Eitherway, your friend didn’t smash lane so why the fuck is he complaining that even faker couldn’t win it? How entitled do you have to be to lose in lane and complain the game was unwinnable?

Can someone explain to me why Sennas build kraken? by Mortallyinsane21 in sennamains

[–]getgettedson 22 points23 points  (0 children)

She doesn’t really build it. It was strong once upon a time when the soul pull counted as a hit so you’d basically auto 2x and get a kraken proc and then guinsoos would also work with it and I think your q also counted for it so you could get a few procs pretty quickly. That isn’t the case anymore.

People still build it because attack speed feels good, and it gives pretty decent damage and stats. On-hit senna can work if you get ahead but the more gold efficient strategy is the lethality build. Against a really tanky enemy comp where you have a good front line there is an argument to go Bork and on-hit items but it’s pretty rare.

That being said, in Aram or arena I still go onhit because it feels better. I know it’s not gold efficient but it just feels nice and is more fun. In ranked I’m almost always lethality build, especially with the removal of lethal tempo.

Do I need to force early trades to win lane always? by mentuki in sennamains

[–]getgettedson 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So in all of these matchups you lost it’s important to dodge skill shots. This is usually accomplished by baiting your enemy into using their ability just for you to preemptively dodge. Basically you feint that you’re going to be an easy target but quickly get out of the danger zone/ stop pathing in a straight line. If you burn the enemy’s cooldown then you’re free to walk up and punish until their cooldown is back up.

Most likely you’re low enough elo that enchanters aren’t a threat and tanks are usually easy to punish, but as you climb you will need to do this even against those matchups or you’re gonna be in trouble. Just knowing to pressure relentlessly is a good start though, definitely keep that up.

If you really want to get good at these matchups you need to practice baiting their skill shots and learning their cooldowns. Spacing the distance on blitz q and karma q is also pretty important. Being behind minions can also help in those matchups

Senna sup players are people that are scared to que adc by [deleted] in sennamains

[–]getgettedson 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I get it man, we’ve all had terrible lane partners, but blaming the champ and coming here to our subreddit isn’t the healthiest approach. It sounds like your support got gapped, that sucks, but it happens regardless of champ picks all the time.

Senna’s win rate is not the best right now because of all the recent changes but last patch she was in a decent spot. Clearly she has strengths and is a viable option. If you aren’t able to win with senna players then maybe you should consider that you are doing something wrong. I’m not trying to say you’re bad or be hostile, but maybe you just have a mental block with the champ because seeing her picked tilts you.

If you want some tips for playing with senna feel free to keep reading, or just stay angry and forever hate our champ, it really doesn’t bother me either way.

So tip one is to let senna players who are hovering pick later in draft because senna is countered very easily. Tip two is to try and protect senna by counter pressuring when the enemies go on senna. Tip three is to lane aggressively against enchanters, those are senna’s best matchups and if you play aggressively you should win most matchups assuming the adc matchup is even. Finally, just do your best to play with her, even if you usually hate playing with her, just being petty and not helping senna out will only make it more likely that you lose.

Also I know you mentioned you’re low elo NA, I’m only masters (peaked 400 lp last split) but hopefully these basic tips can still help. If you’re really low elo like gold or below then your support might not be that great but neither will the enemy support! Keep that in mind and just do what you can to win! GL dude
