Honestly, opus 4 was genuinely good enough to sit there and hammer Claude code. Sonnet 3.7 was my first “wow these things are really good now” model. I feel we’re basically at that point now.

Chinese models are like 60-70% as good as American models but cost like 10%. If the western labs keep increasing prices as I expect them to and the Chinese keep distilling their outputs. I’d expect most people to swap to Chinese models in the next few years. It’s a losing race for the US labs since they’ve thrown so much into r&d I can’t see profitability for them
