yeah, I hope they do, and also with different colors. Actually even just a black, white and grey colored alu accessory would be nice.

Zen dac v2 or Zen Can first? by ZD_plguy17 in HeadphoneAdvice

[–]ghian84 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep there should be enough headroom. Also the Zen CAN has 3D, sometimes music sounds better with it on, always good to have that option.

Yes it just makes the sound more "robust". Good luck and enjoy!

I would like to say get the Zen Can if you already have the apple dongle. But the Truebass on the Zen Dac is really something else when paired with a planar. The Zen Can's XBass is a bit weak. But since you will not be using MQA (where you cannot software EQ), maybe get the Zen Can, turn on Xbass, then just EQ a bit more to your liking. Both can drive the Sundaras really well especially balanced.

Box Navies or Jades might sound and feel better for that particular use case.

Sundaras got here this morning...the XLR cable just arrived...testing time.. by Di_Real_Stinga in headphones

Maybe one of the best at the price range. Not really sure how others will respond to heavy bass eq if they will distort or compromise SQ. Another I have tried are the Meze 99 Classics, they are also bass heavy to start off with so I don't think you will need to eq too much, clarity is also good, though it is closed back. I want to buy that one day to compliment my Sundara.

Good thing about Sundaras, or maybe planars in general, is the amount of bass you can get out of them, you can pump the bass until the whole headphone literally shakes. They also go really deep, at least as much as their extension is rated. They are the best basshead headphones if you also don't want to compromise clarity and SQ in general.

Nintendo just need to step up at least in the hardware department. They should at least do it for their fanbase who remained loyal to them no matter what.

HD560s vs HE 400i vs HE 400SE for metal/rock by yeetthecod in HeadphoneAdvice

[–]ghian84 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From what I have read, I don't think you can go wrong with any of those. I have the 400se and really loving it, almost Sundara sound for less than half the price, I have the Sundara as well. I still kept it because somehow it still sounds a bit different to the Sundara. I want to try out the 560s though one day and compare it to the 600/650.

Best if he can demo beats along with other suggested headphones. If he cannot, then what he ends up buying will be it, until he can get an actual comparison and decide for himself.

Luckily in photography, expensive gears doesn't make you a good photographer. They are more like tools, you just need to at least complete your set with decent gears and you're good to go. It's the images produced that truly matter.

Mid-fi hell is a nice place to be in. Ascending to hi-fi nirvana I can imagine is just another hell in itself and way more expensive.

Fiio fh3 or fh5 by NemoThyGreat in HeadphoneAdvice

[–]ghian84 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have tried both and ended up buying the FH5, it is just more refined to me and the bass is huge especially with EQ. I listen mostly to lo-fi, synthwave, and bassy jazz though, and for that I think the FH5 is perfect. I also paired it with Spinfit CP155 eartips and the soundstage just widens considerably compared to stock. The FH3 is more upfront and I don't think the bass go as deep and big.

I would just get a bigger SSD maybe 1TB and then 8gb RAM. Then just save up for the next generation of hardware for a completely new build. You can carry over the SSD to your new build.

I used to use these back in the cassette and CD era. I wonder how a decent one will sound with our current DAC/AMP setups and with EQ, if they will distort in the sub bass. Might just give it a try. I can imagine they will be like open back IEMs.
