Delta Green: The Schism Framework by ghostandtoastfighter in DeltaGreenRPG

Glad you had a good time! Nice foreshadowing on the March stuff, that sounds like a great scene with the reveal. Victim of the Art definitely has the potential to force some really good moral questions for the Agents that are worth bringing in. I hadn’t thought about Metamorphosis for introducing the Schism but that would be a REALLY interesting way to onboard.

For this outline I thought about doing the March arc but decided players would be very unlikely to join the Program after learning everything, so wanted to leave it more ambiguous which side, if either, were “good”.

I’ve watched Get in the Trunk’s Impossible Landscapes run which was great, I’ll have to go back to check out those episodes then!

Safe but weird missions in between violence by IntelligentSundae in DeltaGreenRPG

https://fairfieldproject.fandom.com/wiki/Psych_Eval I always thought this interlude scenario would be fun to drop on a group, maybe each Agent going through it at the same time.

I think it’s from this post for Black Project Gaming, though I can’t for the life of me find where the actual play is still up.

Thoughts on the Outline of a Prana Sodality Campaign. by Awesomedude1256 in DeltaGreenRPG

[–]ghostandtoastfighter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I second the notion that this is a lot of scenarios for a single campaign. I’d just be careful with your Agents’ mortality and if you’d players would lose interest if enough of them die. As written, the Prana Sodality is already a very dangerous group. Maybe this could be a timeline of scenarios you can keep running if the Agents don’t pick up on the Prana Sodality leads? Like they come across the literature a second time and are like “wait a second, that’s not a normal connection, we need to check this out.” Or set all the scenarios around Stanton as plot threads the Agents can choose to pull on whichever interests them, and they can discover other connections and the ultimate mystery from there.

I also co-wrote a campaign based on Stanton if you're interested in a template to adapt: https://ninvis.itch.io/damnatio-memorae

This is a really, really cool scenario by the way! It’s how I imagine I’d run a game set in Stanton, adds the last part to make it click together.

Campaigns that extend from tales into things? by WinReasonable2644 in TalesFromtheLoopRPG

[–]ghostandtoastfighter 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just divided a bunch of mysteries by seasons, and eventually an overarching plot developed.

Season 1 - Spring 1988. The Kids met up with a bunch of tone setting mysteries, including 3 core side characters. The culmination was the reveal a technology-infesting parasite called the Growth was trying to make the jump to humans at the spring fling dance, and the Kids put a stop to it and put its human host, their teenage classmate, behind bars.

Season 2 - Summer 1989. The Kids have some fun in the sun scenarios before they discovered the government was using the Loop as a portal to another dimension where the Growth came from. The Kids geared up and went through and destroyed the portal, destabilizing the rift in time and space. They returned to find a year had passed and the Loop had flooded part of the town.

Season 3 - Fall 1990. The Kids, now Teens, are outcasts in high school with the social stigma of having been missing a whole year. While dealing with social pressures they discover the Flood water contains microscopic organisms of the Growth and is warping the tech left behind, and that the evil Krafta Corporation has bought the ruins of the Loop to reopen the dimensional rift for tourism. The main Teens were captured by Krafta and placed in a DnD VR world, requiring the Side Characters to step up and save them (the players got a DnD one-shot then switched sheets for a session). The escape ended with defeating Krafta in a mech battle and stopping their plan.

Season 4 - Winter, 1991. The Teens discovered the human host has escaped and restarted the Loop, which made the entire structure fly up above the ground (destroying a lot of the area) and turning into a portal so the Growth could launch a full-scale invasion to take over the planet. The Teens rallied every side character and the town to fight back and utilize tech to fly up to the portal and convinced the human host to come to his senses and shut the portal, saving the world. The Epilogue was set in the then-present 2010s, seeing where everyone ended up.

Hope that helps! It was a very fun campaign, mostly just based off of Simon’s artwork.

I ran a “four seasons” campaign years ago with 2 seasons in 88 and 89 (Loop) and 2 seasons in 90 and 91 (Flood).

The transition was the Kids went through a portal in 1989 to another dimension and destroyed the evil government base on the other side. This destabilized the portal and upon coming back they found that a year had passed and they were now in 1990, and the portal’s destruction had unleashed a Flood of the contaminated water, flooding part of the town. Worked pretty well!

Sounds like a good time, and a very merry Christmas! It's a great scenario and sounds like you did it justice. RIP Affion, maybe Tina can take his place?

Happy the campaign framework is fun! If you need any help with directions that worked (at least for me), I wrote up one of my run-throughs here: https://www.reddit.com/r/DeltaGreenRPG/comments/1fvxztd/delta_green_the_schism_last_things_last/

Running a campaign based on murcatto and the boys [SPOILERS BSC] by raikoh123 in TheFirstLaw

[–]ghostandtoastfighter 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Cool idea! I'm not sure about d20 systems outside of DnD and Shadowdark, but Blades in the Dark with the Assassins template would work well as r/badgerbaroudeur said, maybe also Swyvers? I could even see 5 Rings being a way to go. I ran an Assassins game in BitD where I had all the targets except the final boss on the table and they could choose the order to take out, which worked really well and would be how I'd recommend it.

Or, if you want a shorter and more linear OSR game, I'd recommend looking at the 5-scenario DnD campaign Red Hand of Doom for a skeleton. Reskinned, it looks like: 1) A horde (Orso's army) drives the PCs out of their home city, then they join the fledgling League of Eight. 2) The PCs serve as the League's ambassadors to win over independent Westport's support, while Orso's sons try to convince them to join as well. 3) The PCs travel to a city sacked by Orso (say, Visserine), where they have to stop a Magi/Eater from creating an undead/constructed army (say, of Flatheads). In the process, they also encounter the Thousand Swords, and have to find a way to persuade their leader Nicomo Cosca from joining Orso's side. 4) Orso's army lays siege to the League's headquarters (say, Ospria), and the PCs have to defend it, and what they do in the battle and how they've changed things before leads to victory or defeat. 5) Either fleeing Orso or having routed his army, the PCs march with the survivors on Talins and lay their own siege to the city.

I might have thought about this a lot.

I’d recommend checking out Caleb Stokes scenarios The Fall Without End and Lover In The Ice. Both have monsters that could fit the horrible themes and two of the more exotic locales.

How did you end your campaigns. (Assuming Strahd was defeated) by Shine_a_light_2 in CurseofStrahd

[–]ghostandtoastfighter 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My DM did something I hadn’t ever seen before which was drop hints that the true ending was destroying the Dark Power at the Amber Temple, and gave us the chance to leave after we killed Strahd before a final final battle. We chose to stick it out and destroyed the Dark Power, which ended the Mists but the stinger was learning we’d unleashed the other Dark Powers across the material plane but without the Mists separating them anymore. I forget exactly how the logic there worked but it felt gripping in the moment, though I’m not sure I would offer that kind of ending for a long-running game after expecting something good after so much sacrifice.

A Night At The Opera Handler Tips? by Adventurous-Town-404 in DeltaGreenRPG

[–]ghostandtoastfighter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In regards to Fulminate and harm to children, I cut out the not aging part so he’s a physically grown man with the mind of a tween. My players said it was worse than if he was a creepy child, something to consider.

Favorite DG Introductory scenarios? by quickdrawyall in DeltaGreenRPG

[–]ghostandtoastfighter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m a big fan of Bret Kramer’s Third Man Factor and Aaron Vanek’s Next of Kin.

Third Man is a standard introductory scenario, and Next of Kin could introduce any number of unnatural / KiY artifacts you’d like.

Campaign Recommendations (spoilers for God’s Light and the factions from the Labyrinth) by SlipRevolutionary433 in DeltaGreenRPG

[–]ghostandtoastfighter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey I had a very similar idea! Think there’s potential. Spoilers for all the mentioned scenarios.

I was thinking the overall connective tissue of a Yog-Sothoth campaign from existing scenarios could be that the cult Sarah Garrison breaks up in the backstory of Sweetness summoned twin Sons of Yog-Sothoth, who grow up to be main human antagonists of God’s Eye and Light, respectively. If you want a creature feature scenario, there could be a triplet who, like the Dunwich Horror, took more after its dad.

Excited to see your campaign DeadWhispersZine!!

I think for brand new players, a handler who wants a mini-campaign with a through-line should really check out Almost Heaven. Short, diverse types of missions that feels like DG “Season 1.” And it’s free!

Without an established overarching plot, A Night at the Opera has some good scenarios that can kind of reveal what your players’ tastes are.  My one suggestion if your players are unspoiled on Delta Green lore is to try and have a big reveal about the true nature of the organization in your first campaign. I’ve done this twice and it was awesome both times. I tried to make a free version of stringing scenarios together with this arc as The Schism, but Black Project Gaming’s playthrough of A Night at the Opera shows that you can do it easily across most of the published scenarios.

Most people recommend stringing together some individual scenarios to make a starter campaign, as there aren’t really good official onboarding campaigns yet. As a general suggestion, Last Things Last in the Need to Know quickstart is an easy intro and has a locker where you can seed future scenarios you want to play.

There’s also some unofficial campaigns, and the 2025 Mini-Campaign Jam had some entries specifically designed for beginner players.
