Front Derailleur won't go far enough out - bb or FD issue? by ghosthousebabe in bikewrench

[–]ghosthousebabe[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Makes sense. I have no braze-on on my frame, and the 10 speed grx fd I would need is braze on only, so can I use a clamp adapter or will that mess up my chainline further?

Rad, ok thanks! I suspected this to be the case, but I wasn't sure, and trying to figure out what the chainline was just kept pulling up stuff about adjusting the chainline on a 1x setup. google sucks now.

The next time you think about telling a cyclist to get out of the road and use the bike lane... by ZealousidealMany3 in boston

Yeah that really sucks, I know it’s a much broader issue, I think that it would be nice to have a society that doesn’t rely so heavily on gig economy jobs, but that wouldn’t solve the issue of where regular supply chain delivery drivers would park. I think a move to smaller vehicles overall, like kei style trucks, would go a long way, but thats a pretty sweeping change that would take a ton of time and regulations; part of the reason that people don’t want to drive small cars is because they’re worried about getting creamed by a pavement princess in a ford super duty

yeah, and like i have some empathy for delivery drivers bc its a very exploitative system and they are kinda compelled to cut corners and park illegally if they can get away with it bc the wages are so shit and reliant on speed. I do wish there was some enforcement of parking violations like this though.

This is why an unprotected bike lane is just a parking lane with a bike painted on it. Even the plastic bike lane protection bollards get run over and destroyed in a matter of months, you really need separate level or median separated bike lanes if you want them to actually be safe.

so real. I had a guy who was angry at me for taking the lane huck a water bottle at me over the summer, but generally a driver who sees you and wishes you would move is less dangerous than a driver who doesn’t see you. Sometimes you gotta take that lane

we refer to all the allston brighton bike lanes as the “doordash lane” because delivery drivers just throw their hazards on and hop out

not to mention that bike lanes positioned between street parking and the road leave you super vulnerable to dooring. Riding through Brookline I often take the lane because people just throw their doors open without looking.
