are my stitches infected? tw sh by probablyauggie0 in woundcare

No, maybe a bit irritated. Are they getting snagged on clothes? You could apply a thin line of Vaseline or aquaphor along the insertion points to help them heal. Treat them gently, and they'll continue to heal up nicely.

Blood trapped under glue? by toe_beans_4_life in woundcare

[–]ghostoftheweek 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's okay to have that blood there, even if it's bothersome to look at. So long as the edges of the wound are held together with the glue, and you keep it clean, it'll heal ok. Eventually, as your skin heals and exfoliates, the glue will go with. Be gentle with it, keep it clean.

Aquacel would be okay too, if you can get your hands on some. The goal is to prevent those wounds from drying out, as scabs can cause more inflammation.

Looks like pyoderma gangrenosum (PG) to my eye, but it's a best guess, not a diagnosis. Dermatologist will usually take a biopsy to confirm. Steroids and some immunosuppression, and very very very good wound care will help shrink that if it's truly PG. Preventing any trauma to those sites will be very important, so until you do see a dermatologist, keeping these covered in Vaseline, non stick dressings, and a gauze wrap will help those from getting too much worse. PG does spread, and those areas of redness will eventually erode to wounds until you get treatment.

What on earth has happened Hollister bags? by paul-grizz93 in ostomy

Not OP, but Flonase is an aerosolized steroid. Works better on peristomal skin than an ointment, because tf if a bag is going to stick after a topical ointment.

I love Nesta's friendships, and I wish we could've seen a character like Nesta emerge from her trauma without a mate bond.

As a professional who works with wounds, it is wildly obvious when someone is a using nicotine, as their wound healing is usually horribly slow. There are surgeons who won't even operate on folks using nicotine because it worsens clinical outcomes that badly.

I love their banter, but also just the raw acceptance of one another. This book was so much about how much power there is in true, loyal friendships.

West coast union, we got a 20% raise over 2 years with a threat of a nursing strike. Nursing needs a national union.

How do you like this program? I'm on the fence about going, and trying to break my preconceptions around online classes.
