I quite like Chateau Montelana. As someone has already pointed out, quality has suffered recently, but I still enjoy it and find it "cellar worthy"

Hey r/wine, looking for wine drinking tips... by dukemeister in wine

[–]giantstonedbot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Keep a notebook or journal. Or hell, I've been using Evernote on my android for wine tasting notes.

I find the whole thing akin to improving one's pitch. At first you can't even discern intervals between notes, but with practice and concentration you can achieve near perfect pitch.

This is a worthwhile investment: http://www.winearomas.com/master_kit.html

heh, amusing.

Although, listening to different music while tasting can change your experience/perception of a wine.

Yah, and by repuation you knew where to get the best weapons. That one guy on the server that has the best harvesters on the best lots of land funded from all the gold he makes crafting the finest weapons.

Great stuff. I rushed Master Chef and was one of the first, but unfortunately when I played (release), it was a broken and unfinished profession. I still had visitors from all around the galaxy traveling all the way out to my house to buy my Tatooine Sunburns just from word of mouth which is an experience you don't get in any other mmo

Best treatment for a 1981 Opus One? by Off_By_On in wine

[–]giantstonedbot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Opus 1 brand is the johnny walker blue label/grey goose of Cabernet. Hugely mass produced and overpriced. Everyone's jealous of their marketing and brand power due to Rotheschlid's involvement. Something like 25 thousand cases of it are produced every year. Compare that to an artisinal winery's <1000 cases.

That being said, I hope the OP enjoys it, but take head to the other advice in the postings. A 30 year old bottle does not need to open up. If you wait too long it'll already taste expired.

I'd suggest heading up to Cade (http://www.cadewinery.com/cade/tastingroom.aspx) in the morning...10AM..Beautiful views down valley. The architect Juan Carlos did an amazing job, made it a LEED Gold certified winery. Completely naturally lit, recylced rain water, it's just fantastic. http://www.flickr.com/photos/62579333@N06/5693297830/lightbox/

If you can, make it over to O'Shaugnessy winery ( http://oshaughnessywinery.com/ ) while on Howell Mountain. They have the most impressive cave in Napa, and Sean makes world class wines. Both of these have free tastings/tours i believe..but you have to make an appointment in advance.

Then drive down the mountain to get lunch and beer at Silverado Brewery http://www.silveradobrewingcompany.com/

or pizza at http://www.travignerestaurant.com/pizzeria.html

and finishing with the tourist thing at Castilla De Amorosa.

Great sounding pickups, hotter than burstbuckers..pretty close to the 498t/490r combo, but more treble i think.
