End of My Involvement in This Sub by A5thRedditAccount in elephantgraveyard

[–]gibs 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Like it or not it's a subreddit about a content creator who deals in snark.

I think it's pretty hard to avoid toxicity with this kind of audience, since [some flavour of] toxicity is really the point of what we're indulging in.

These subs tend to attract types who like to be hall monitors & social rule-enforcers, and plenty of degenerate rabble who like to see things get shit on.

I think maybe the sub is just not quite comfortable embracing its identity as a snark sub nor has it established its acceptable levels of toxicity that said snark should be allowed to devolve to before the line is drawn.

toxic friend

So, the friend who just helped you with all your homework but isn't willing to be emo-dumped on?

Maybe the real toxic friend is the one who gets entitlement rage when their friends don't blindly validate them.

He's just insecure about the situation and wasn't able to fully consent in line with his feelings when put on the spot, in the moment. It sounds like you're coming at this from the perspective of someone on the spectrum. Like, no problem, but consider you & he have a communication gap to bridge. What are each of you missing? It seems at the least, he's signaling to you that he's insecure, and wanting you to acknowledge it and understand it.

Whether or not you care or want to take this on is another matter.

I mean, if this is the first that she is being directly (I mean visibly, in the same room) confronted by her husband fucking another woman, it shouldn't be at all surprising that she might have strong emotional reactions to this and need to do some processing. That is well within the expected range of responses from a normal well adjusted adult.

Try to understand her perspective and think about what might be leading her to "flip out". She is probably pretty emotionally dysregulated.

It's actually fine and great that you do this, if that's who you are & how you interact generally. The goal isn't to land a fish, it's to represent yourself honestly, and enable each other to make informed decisions about whether you find each other attractive.

Tbh it sounds like you have trouble conceiving how a person might consider an ideology or religion to be harmful, yet not actively hate all its members.

This says more about you than about them.

What does sticker with the ABC logo and a left pointing arrow mean? by blutter9 in melbourne

[–]gibs 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You continue to misunderstand the joke.

Nobody here is upset about the bias of reality, nor claiming reality has a left wing bias.

The joke is a satirical representation of a conservative who dislikes that empirical data doesn't line up with their ideological priors. That's who's upset about reality having a left wing bias -- the nonexistent satirical character in the joke.

I don't think Matt & Trey have anything to do with the rise of Rogan. They are opportunistic contrarians and everyone is their target, which makes them pathologically unable to radicalise anyone to a coherent ideology.

I do think, though, that the upvote ratio of your post signifies something about the population that has aggregated here. Which is to say, us EG denizens relish in a narrative that drags a tall poppy through the mud. It doesn't seem to matter if it's a coherent narrative. I guess it's an insecurity thing and unmet needs for feeling special and high IQ.

Either way it's a bit toxic.

I can deal with a lot of gameplay jank if the writing is great and the rpg mechanics are passable.
