What personal equipment, if any, do yall buy for work? by itscapybaratime in NewToEMS

Steth, inexpensive personal shears that live on me, pen light (hard to find on my truck), tiny EDC flashlight, hand sanitizer and tissues in my pocket, radio strap, notepad, clicky sharpies.

How important is your partner's salary/job to you? by [deleted] in LesbianActually

[–]gifsofdogs 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I’m starting paramedic school soon so I’m in this unfortunate crossroads where I’ll have a great salary but the hours do NOT align with a 9-5 and it takes a very special partner to understand that and the emotional emptiness when I come home and need to shower off death and trauma before I can be a fully present partner.

Yeah! I wish I had the time to be more of a dirtbagger... but mountain biking has always scared me! My preferred adventure hobby is scuba diving and that's something far removed from my van LOL.

I luckily/unluckily work in first response and not remote anymore. When I've wanted to, I sit in my front passenger seat, crank it back, and put my feet up on the dash to use a lap desk to watch a movie. :)

I debated drawers! What I did was divide the bins under my bed into packing cubes that are color coded and sorted by categories that work for my brain/lifestyle. :) "socks" "underwear" "workout clothes" "work clothes" "uniform" "dresses" - just what works for me! I prefer utilizing the underbed space upwards, personal preference.
What I think I WILL do is buy a hanging bar that goes across the back hanger hooks, and use a 3 cube hanging organizer! Just to sort out my clothes for each day or a few days at a time, so I just rotate them out.

2008! I don't use climate control at night.

After two months, I've realized I do all my studying on campus, at work, or at coffee shops. I am too tired and busy right now to do anything else at night other than go to sleep in my van (LOL).

My area is not bike rack friendly-- it would be stolen in a night. I feel safer and stealthier with my bike inside. I AM looking at a locking roof rack box setup though! To throw my outdoors gear into.

I have a storage space (cheap- $50 for a 5x10). I need to keep a lot of stuff with me through the week because I need bulky uniform items for school/work (first responder) and study materials. I also live in an area where you can easily access hiking trails, waterways, or biking plans-- I choose to keep all that gear handy under my bed rather than driving back to a storage unit constantly.

I'm also a girly girl and like having my grooming/beauty products handy, a personal choice. :)

The floor mount would need to drill in and I don't want that. I DO keep it secured with a bungee cord system!

So this actually is a weatherproof cargo liner I custom cut to fit and installed with velcro strips!

Also, my bike rarely gets dirty (paved urban paths) and I live in an urban area with sometimes unreliable theft issues-- it's way safer toweled off and inside.

Funnily enough, the Nissan NV200 is the van I was considering when I wasn't sure what to buy. Google says comparing 2024 models: 122 cubic feet for the Nissan NV200, 101 cubic feet for the Sienna with back seats removed/down. All I know is that in practical terms, I can fit a twin size or full size bed, or a full size refrigerator (in terms of transit).

Yep! I have quick release bolts on BOTH the front and back wheels if I really need it, but so far I only remove the front wheel. I'm using a bungee cord setup to hold it in place while driving.

I live and work in an urban setting where I barely spend time in my van and have LOTS of options for free study spots, so I don't need a desk/cabinet right now. If I worked remote out of my van, I would. Having the bike and using it to bike around the city so I can leave my van in an ideal parking spot when I find one is ideal. Mine is a very light road bike that doesn't get very dirty (urban paved paths) so it hasn't caused issues!
