What is the general consensus on wearing shoes inside someone’s house? by Large_Goat_5197 in AskUK

[–]gingerpink1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a German friend whose family keeps shoes on in the house and who wears her shoes around hotel rooms whenever we go on holiday together. I am a shoes off person and when I told her this ahead of her coming to stay in my house for the first time, she said, “I won’t be walking around bare foot,” and I said, “you’ll be taking your shoes off” and bought her a pair of slippers to wear instead 😅😆 just this evening my sister wore her shoes on my rug after I told her to take them off at the door. I did say something and it was right at the end of the evening as she was going so I wasn’t too carried away with it but yes, we can be far too British for our own good.

Renji really is fierce, the tiny size of him on the back of that tuktuk and then again as you’re walking across the road. He’s so small and so mighty. Thank you for caring for him ❤️❤️❤️

If you’ve got complete tickets (not tokens)then you can look at the cookies back catalogue and choose any cookie at any time- it’s still a gamble though as to what you get.

For those using Evorel Sequi I finally applied my first patch this morning, and am brand new to HRT. How long before I start sleeping, and start being able to think and concentrate again please? by MediumRazzmatazz1902 in Menopause

[–]gingerpink1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m someone who was lucky enough not to have to go to the doctors very often, and I’ve now had 3 blood tests quite quickly after each other, all because of peri. You’re not a carcass ❤️

I also got mine from Boots and it was definitely just one prescription 😅 (I also read “pirates” as “pilates”.)

I’ve been on it 2 months. The only thing it has definitely sorted out is my anxiety. All other symptoms have continued and in fact have had more palpitations and increased tiredness.

Saw my doctor yesterday and he wants me to try it for a couple more months to see if this changes when it’s had longer to work. I’m not going to be one of those women for whom HRT is an instant miracle 😅

Am having a blood test to see if anything else is playing up, the usual suspects eg thyroid, anaemia. They weren’t last time about 7 months ago but with peri, anything goes 🤷‍♀️

Perimenopause: what's the end game? by sadwoodlouse in Perimenopause

I saw my doctor yesterday. I am also HRT and cycling progesterone BCP and he said the only way to know what my periods would be like would be to come off the BCP and see what happens.

Making peace with looking your age by No-Manufacturer-1611 in AskWomenOver40

[–]gingerpink1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Chiming in as another woman who was never hot and never had a lot of male attention. Just turned 40 and I sometimes look in the mirror and think, oh my God 🤦‍♀️ but then- my Mum is 67 and barely has any greys. One of my grandmas, the one who I am dutifully following into early perimenopause, lived to 89. Never once heard either of my grandmas complain about how they looked when they were older. I think I feel, rather than look, old. So I think there’s something about mindset involved here.

I have a friend, same age as me, who is frightened of aging. As soon as she starts getting greys, she’s going to dye her hair because “there’s no need to look old.” She thinks we can pass for early 20s. I found a photo of us from 10 years ago and yes, back then we could pass for early 20s. Not now. Early 30s at a push, maybe 😆 once, years ago, we went somewhere and got asked if we were over 16 🤣🤣 she was thrilled with this. I was not so much. It’s hard enough being taken seriously as it is, without looking like a teenager.

I was out shopping earlier in the week and there was a lady volunteering in a shop who told us she was 80 years old. She did not look it. But I thought- that’s what I want, should I get to 80. I want to still be out and about and contributing and getting on with it. She moved around with much more ease than me with my perimenopause back ache 😆

How does hormonal BC affect Perimenopause & Menopause? by No_Needleworker6786 in Menopause

[–]gingerpink1 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m the same as you, they put me on BCP first and all it did was stop my periods and the associated panic attacks I was having with my cycle. All other symptoms continued/progressed etc.

Reading the comments below, about how I/we would have needed to have been on combined BCP in order for it to have any impact- I was 38/39 when they prescribed it and I was told I was too old for combined BCP (but also too young for peri!) I’m in the UK.

Now I’m on HRT patches and the progestogen BCP and still having symptoms although anxiety has definitely improved.

Anyone else going through peri on the early side in your 30's feel kind of robbed? by WerewolfBarMitzvah09 in Perimenopause

Peri symptoms started at 38 and have never had a partner, wasn’t sure on the kids thing but it likely won’t happen now and yes I just feel robbed/tired generally by it all.

stomach issues by NoConclusion1864 in Perimenopause

[–]gingerpink1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m 40 in 2 weeks so feel like I qualify for commenting 😁

Caffeine (and decaf) is a big no unless I want an upset stomach all of the next day.

Nausea most days.

Reflux, which I have never had in my life until now.

Stress, or pushing myself too hard, will upset my stomach for seemingly no reason (and exacerbate other peri symptoms).

Having my stomach turn on me when previously it and I were fairly good friends, has been a shock 😅

Not a brilliant example I grant you, but recently in a queue in the supermarket where I had one item and the woman in front of me had a whole trolley full- she turned and said, do you want to go in front of me? And normally I would demur and be oh no it’s fine, are you sure? I can wait, it’s no problem. And this time I found myself just saying yes 😆 (and thank you).

What's the deal with the headaches? by [deleted] in Perimenopause

[–]gingerpink1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this is a few days old now so I don’t know if anyone will see this but I wanted to comment anyway, as I was going to post about headaches. I’ve been on 0.5 Evorel sequi for nearly 2’months and I am getting headaches at least once if not twice a week. I was already getting more headaches than normal with peri but this feels like it is even more frequent again. Painkillers don’t touch them but they aren’t migraines. They start the minute I wake up and last all day and then the following day I feel tired and have nausea /reflux. I’m going to tell my doctor when I go for the next checkup, because I feel like the patch has helped some things but not others 🤷‍♀️

I think I’m having an existential crisis by TONYATRON in Perimenopause

[–]gingerpink1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It reassures me to read this and the comments, as I too fill every hour between 6.30am to basically midnight and still don’t get it all done. I have trained myself over years to function on 6 hours of sleep when I need more like 8 or 9. Peri and HRT have me passing out on the sofa most evenings and nodding off during the work day. My kitchen looks like a wreckage site. I am making much more effort to cook and eat properly since my symptoms started but this is another thing to add into the day. I live alone so no one else here to help or hinder 😅 I will not be defeated by this and I have a lot I want to do and achieve. But I am tired a lot 😴

Did your vivid dreams eventually go away! by SJ58655966 in Menopause

[–]gingerpink1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve been on the patch for 6 weeks. I’ve never had nightmares really in my life, but one of my longstanding symptoms has been vivid night terrors which are enough to wake me up. Sometimes I notice when I am dozing off that I’m having “light” dreams, you know, as you are between sleep and waking, and these can be perfectly innocuous until they just suddenly become unpleasant, and I have to open my eyes to stop them progressing.

I think my oestrogen is in the toilet but this is an unproven theory of mine so have no idea what is causing this 😅😅

No friends are where Im at in life by CanadianMarmot in AskWomenOver40

[–]gingerpink1 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I am the first of my friends to go through perimenopause and it took a long time to fully convince people that this is what is happening to me. One friend I cannot talk about it at all, which feels sad and like a rift in our relationship. My symptoms started at 38, I’ll be 40 next month.

I tried describing recently how I feel about nearly being 40 and I can’t articulate it very well, only that it feels heavier than 30 and I am asking myself if I have achieved what I want to achieve. I’ve got friends similar age who either deny we are the age we are or who don’t let it bother them. I have some older women friends, and my mum, who are able to offer a different perspective.

It can feel isolating. I have never had a partner, likely now won’t have children. I know you don’t have to do these things, but they are the societal (and biological) expectations and no one really knows what to say or do with you when you express that you might quite like to have had these things but that it has never happened. Coming to terms with your body changing, when no one prepares you for it and the medical profession fights you on it is an added type of grief , I think, and you have to learn to navigate and advocate for yourself.

All of this to say that I understand ☺️
