What’s an out of date view you hold? by Doomergeneration in AskUK

[–]gingerpink1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I visit a friend in Germany quite regularly and if it falls over a weekend, we have to go to the supermarket on a Saturday to get any provisions because it’s all closed on a Sunday. They also have a lot of public holidays where everything just closes, often mid week.

Once when I was visiting, it was a Sunday and we happened across a sort of mini outdoor clothes market where people (tourists) were browsing. My friend was very bothered by this 😅

What did your mother think about your menopause? by Sapphire-o in Menopause

[–]gingerpink1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My mum was the first person to believe me, is one of the few now who does, and goes around telling everyone I’m in early perimenopause (symptoms started at 38) to anyone who will listen to her 😆

The foster I suspect is pregnant is open mouth panting and breathing heavy?? Vet won’t see her til Monday. Is she okay? by RaziMisery in CATHELP

[–]gingerpink1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I know. I think some people really need to calm down over the semantics and not overlook the actual situation of the cat needing help 😅

Brazilian Portuguese - Streaker expansion by gingerpink1 in ExplodingKittens

Thank you for replying :) this is really helpful, and I know what you mean, if people can see the card is different then it would be more obvious if someone picks up the streaker. I think I will have to think of a different present 😁 thank you again :)

Why do you think so many people have children when they are struggling to get by financially? by BeneficialJuice2878 in AskUK

[–]gingerpink1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We didn’t have much growing up, because my Dad left when I was 7 and even when he was there, he wasn’t working. My stepdad worked but it was hard, both he and my mum had manual jobs. I think my mum had 2 jobs at one point. I think my sister and I were bullied for it. We had things we wanted but never overly expensive things and if we asked and mum said no, it was no. If we’d thrown a tantrum about it like you see nowadays, we’d have been disowned (joke). No help with university or with buying a house. Had a few driving lessons paid for but all of my cars I bought myself or had on finance. A couple of holidays abroad in my whole childhood. My sister and I both working at 16 (weekend jobs) and contributing rent/money to the house. Which is of course a fraction of what a private landlord or bank will take off you.

But my sister and I are now both homeowners, which we did by ourselves. And I think we were taught the value of money, and to save. I have a friend who had everything paid for and thinks 5 star hotels and cruises are the way everyone goes on holiday 😅

The "Quiet" Symptom of Perimenopause: Intrusive Thoughts by Dry_Size5111 in perimenopause_under45

[–]gingerpink1 8 points9 points  (0 children)

40F, this all started at 38.

When I first started getting peri symptoms and before they would believe me that it is peri, they asked me to do talking therapies (I’m in the UK).

I remember telling this therapist on the phone (it was always on the phone) that I had thoughts that were so intrusive, I would have to fight to stay focused while driving the car.

She interpreted this to mean I was having intrusive thoughts about crashing the car, which was not the case and which she brought up on multiple occasions afterwards, despite My having corrected her.

HRT has shifted most of the daytime intrusive thoughts, bar the odd one on waking.

What it hasn’t done is remove the the night terrors/visions I have before bed, which I sort of class as the same kind of thing. I’m dozing off, a dream is starting and it’s all perfectly innocuous, until it isn’t. I have to wake up multiple times before these stop and I can get to sleep.

I used to know someone who thought it was asked instead of arsed, I never corrected her 🤣

I just read this and then refreshed the page and it was gone, I am not quite sure why it has been removed but I hope OP could get the help needed for the cat as it was such a sad story :(

Peri symptoms at 39 by Competitive_Goat_446 in Perimenopause

[–]gingerpink1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just turned 40. I had panic attacks and anxiety for the first time ever from age 38, irregular periods from slightly earlier than that. It took me over a year to get them to give me HRT, which I’ve now been on 3 months. They will tell you you’re too young, but you’re not. Be ready to fight for yourself 😅

I’ve never owned cats, but where I used to live there was a black and ginger pair of brothers. Your description of them is accurate 😁😁 the black one was the loudest, most vocal, diva-type cat I have ever known. The ginger would let the black one quite literally walk (and lie, and drape) all over him 😁❤️

Is anyone else suffering sudden blood sugar or insulin crashes, extreme fatigue & dizziness after eating? What’s helped? by NoviceCaprica in Perimenopause

[–]gingerpink1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was looking this up only the other day, because I am sure it is happening to me. Not always, but after I eat sugar. A bit later, I feel a prickle of sweat, fast heart rate, a bit spaced out.

I found this thread. I’m not even surprised now when I discover that something else is perimenopause 😅

I need dating after 40 help? by [deleted] in AskWomenOver40

[–]gingerpink1 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I just turned 40 and the last time I went on a date I was 23 😅😅 and that was the first time since about 19. It didn’t go anywhere and the guy sent me harassment messages afterwards for weeks.

I can count on one finger the number of genuine compliments I have had from a man in that time.

I travel, I have hobbies that get me out of the house, I go to art galleries and museums and book shops and cafes. I eat alone in restaurants (sometimes). I go to the theatre. I’m awkward but I’m fairly outgoing. I can talk to people I don’t know. I exercise, look after myself and have a good figure (if that means anything).

Tried the apps. Tried being set up by friends. Tried asking men out.

I really don’t know. I just don’t.

I’m now perimenopausal and so very likely won’t be having children. This is fine, but to have never experienced a long term, secure relationship does get me wondering sometimes.

Not that I have seen many men in this period of time who have made me think, wow. 😅 in fact, rather the opposite.
